Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomVery expensive, the tap on the sink in the bathroom only had very hot water no cold water to brush your teeth and the tap was very loose like it was going to brake at any point. The room was not very clean and the pillows were stained.
Was very nice to look at staff friendly and the colours and thymes were great

United KingdomVery tired which perhaps is why building work was being carried out. Handprints on the ceiling mirrors left by the previous guests, oil on the floor by the bed that I slipped on ( could have been fatal ). All in all felt tacky not decadent. The bed was a standard double. We paid £431 which is extortionate for this kind of experience especially as no breakfast included. We paid and waited ages with barely anyone in there. Wouldn’t stay again.
Reception team were nice.

United KingdomUnfortunately our third time visiting the pool wasn’t warm, too cold to swim and the outside area was run down to our previous visits
We’ve stayed here previously and enjoyed the outside pool in the mornings for a dip, this is what brought us back

United KingdomWhen we arrived at nearly 6pm our room was not ready and we were sent back over the road to wait for another room to be sorted for us. Staff were wonderful and we did get a free drink and glass of champagne but a shame nonetheless. The wet room was a bit too small and the inside of the curtain across it was a bit grubby. Not somewhere you want to share with residue of any sort from other people.
As with all crazy bear rooms it was quirky. Been before although in a much bigger room.

United KingdomAs it’s in a central location, it doesn’t have parking although there are a few public spaces outside. I managed to find a space a few doors down from the main reception, and reception advised there was no charge so that was ok. My room had been built into a very old traditional building, separate from the main hotel, and in my view the hotel had used the available space well, but my bathroom was little more than a wardrobe with a walk in shower that soaked everything including the bedroom floor, and it was hard to deal with the steam from the shower with no ventilation. The dark, black, gothic type of decor I doubt will be everyone’s cup of tea, but I had a decent night’s sleep so all fine. There is apparently a spa of some kind, but we were advised by email in advance this wasn’t working/available, which didn’t matter to our group as we were only there for one night, but worth checking if this matters to you.
A lovely but very quirky hotel in central Beaconsfield. The hotel staff on arrival are very friendly and super efficient. I was taken to my room quickly, but that was in another building in the other side of the street. The rooms were nice, but done out in a very dark, gothic type of style with limited lighting. We were there in early July but I imagine in winter you would struggle to see in the poor light as there was only a small window. The main hotel bar was nice and had a good selection of spirits and beers. Very chatty team, and we felt welcomed in there.

United KingdomRenovations were ongoing. Spoilt the vibe at the pool area. Would have been nice to know there were renovations ahead of the booking. Bathroom wasn’t too clean, a lot of areas around the shower were full of mould/ limescale. Noise of plumbing the entire night kept me awake. Bedroom was across the road, so made it challenging walking across to go get a drink in the rain

United KingdomThe room that we stayed in (number 8) needed a lot of repair work. There is a crack in the mirrored ceiling around the tap. There are a number of cracks in the bathroom in the mirrored walls. One of which had been taped with black tape to blend in. The tap in the bathroom trickled water, when we looked it was due to a kink/twist in the pipe work. We did ask to be moved but was told there were no other rooms
The location was lovely in the little village. Food in the Thai was lovely too

United KingdomAs someone standing nearly 2m tall, the room we booked (with a double bed) was, well, tiny. I accept that I'm not going to fit comfortably in a double bed, but it was placed below a sloping roof, meaning a couple of nights sleep in cramped conditions. There also seems to be a modern trend to not put doors on bathrooms in a certain type of hotel (or to have see through walls), this was no different. The separation between the wet room / toilet and the bedroom was a curtain, which is fantastic for testing the comfort limits of some relationships. The cleaning staff, while providing a fantastic cleaning service, did also seem oddly obsessed with leaving us only a single coffee mug to share between two. Everything else we had two of, but even when the friendly staff at reception gave us an extra one, it was reclaimed by housekeeping the following day, again leaving us with just one.
The place itself seems to be spread out over several buildings, our room was situated across the road from the reception and bar and the receptionist mentioned that there were other buildings with rooms in as well. The reception / bar building has an outdoor pool and hot tub, which was a really nice bonus in hot weather. The room itself was rather interesting. The black padded walls and gold décor, which not my personal taste, was loved by my partner, and the view of the local church was very welcome. Despite not having dedicated car parking spaces for the hotel, there is a lot of free on-road parking, and finding a space was never an issue.

United KingdomOur room was very very dark even with lights on & we had to use light from cupboard or front door open to see properly but then the window above door let all the morning light in which was too bright! I think a better DJ in the bar would be good! The wet room above must have overflowed leading to water raining down onto my side of the bed & sideboard in the morning of departure which wasn’t so fun though!
Stylish decor in the main area & room! I love the quirky mirrored toilets. The food & cocktails were divine. The polite & courteous door man!

United KingdomIt was a shame that we were unable to use the pool or hot tub as it was not heated and very cold! I suppose if you are brave enough you could’ve used it but we did stay in the beginning of May.
Been wanting to try this hotel for ages! We finally went for our 3 year anniversary and it didn’t disappoint! It’s truly wonderful unique experience and I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to trying something different and out of the ordinary!
