There's nothing that we didn't like about this place

A lot of consideration has been given to providing comfortable rooms and this place has got it just right. Location is very close to the main town and its restaurants and pubs although there is a superb restaurant in the hotel itself. Breakfast was fantastic!

The access gate on the outside of our room banged on it's sprung closing gear. Some guests let it bang shut which was a disturbance when we were trying to sleep.

We only took breakfast twice and that as served on demand, without the classless buffet of other hotels. The dining room is spotless with a relaxed and polished atmosphere. The staff are friendly, professional and helpful. The bar has a limited choice, but operates on an honesty box, which reflects the trust that management place in their guests.. Our room was clean, the linen fresh and crisp. Even the cream carpet was bouncy and without grubby footmarks. The bathroom was clean, the towels generous and soft.

In the twin room, bathroom needed some hooks to hang clothes. Not enough drying space for towels. Shower rose was too low and too big for the shower. Being tall, I was unable to stand under it and it was at my eye level but probably fine for much shorter people. Shower hose was available but the shower rose was in the way. It would be great if this could be improved.

There was nothing we didn’t like

It was easy to find. We called ahead to ask if we could arrive early to leave our car there, not only did they agree immediately, giving us a named car space of our own outside our room. Then they offered us that our room was already clean and ready, and we could get in hours before official check in. Every single person was smiley, friendly and helpful. On request they gave us a taxi number and that worked well for us, as we were going to a party. In the morning again with the friendliest service, we had a most magnificent breakfast, with anything we could have wished for, which was a very pleasant end to a delightful stay. I would recommend Cottage lodge hotel to anybody.

Excellent welcome from the owners and staff. Made you feel at home. Beautiful room in a quaint hotel. Delicious home cooked breakfast. The hotel is in a very close walking distance to a range of amenities including lovely pubs and restaurants. Stunning part of the country. Thoroughly enjoyed our two day break.

We loved it all

We loved everything, so many little details that made it special, like the allocated parking, honesty bar, tea and cake on arrival, the room was quirky, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Lovely staff including the very nice man at breakfast. Great central location too

It was a warm night, but the downstairs room seemed exceptionally hot, only one window that opened to a courtyard, so was unable to leave open for security, otherwise lovely room, and we appreciate the owners can’t control the weather, a fan was supplied.

Very well run, staff were really nice, breakfast was amazing, would definitely stay again.

Nothing, everything was perfect, all the little extra touches makes a difference, like putting your name on your own parking space, just shows they really love what they do.

On arrival we were greeted with a friendly smile, tea, coffee and cake that is all locally sourced. The room was very clean with its own outside space and the bed was very comfortable. We were asked what time slot we wanted for our breakfast and to choose, drinks, cereal or fruit options from a menu and in the morning we were given the hot breakfast menu to pick from, the staff were so friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Everything is very well organized and the service and accommodation was excellent..
