How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We had a wonderful stay here. The owner was very friendly and helpful, always making sure we felt welcome. The room was perfectly clean, and the breakfast was really delicious. The location is excellent – easy access both to the city center and the bus station. I can highly recommend this place.

I have just had the most wonderful stay here, Dalvy is the perfect host. A gentleman who has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. You went above and beyond, I had delicious food, many snacks, endless tea and coffee, a wonderful homemade curry and good company. Many thanks for a perfect stay, I hope to be back one day. Dalvey was an excellent host, and looked after us very well. He provided plenty of information about local restaurants and places to visit. A lovely continental breakfast was included in the very reasonable price.

Little bit up hill from town centre, but then town is in river valley, so most places are uphill!
Dalvy was fantastic, could not do enough for me... Including super glue when the sole came away on my walking boots! Nice room with comfy bed. Cereal, pastries, toast and fruit for breakfast. Good start to the day. Home away from home. Good large head in shower.

There was nothing to dislike about the property or the host everything we needed was right there at your fingertips.
Dalvy was a wonderful friendly and informative host he went above and beyond our expectations. He gave us information on the towns around Galashiels. The room was immaculate as was the rest of the accommodation. Would 100% recommend this property and the host ... would return in the future without a doubt.

A simple sign outside saying this was indeed the right place, it's a bit anonymous.
Breakfast was fine. If you want a cholesterol-filled fry-up it's not the place for you. Galashiels isn't blessed with eateries, or much else really.

An excellent stay with a wonderful host. We had the best stay with wonderful hospitality. Tea and shortbread on arrival, the bedroom and bathroom facilities are perfect. A lovely breakfast in the morning.

The owner Dalvy was really nice made himself known but not over powering,nice man and even offered to make me a packed lunch on day of departure,digs were spotless and had everything you need, Dalvy even offered me nibbles for when l came in at night..GREAT HOST

Dalvy was an excellent host. The room is not far from the centre of Galashiels and very near the shops. Not only did Dalvy supply an excellent breakfast, he treated me to one of his wonderful curries.

Very welcoming, friendly and caring host. Very good breakfast. Bedroom and bathroom are clean and tidy. Location of the property is close to the center of town where you have plenty of pubs and restaurants I absolutely recommend this B&B
