Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe communal areas were very shabby and dirty, especially the skirting boards and the staircase. There was also lots of chipped paint. The whole place needs redecorating. The conservatory windows need replacing as they are very old. The pillows were very uncomfortable. For the cost of the room, they were below standard. Our tea and coffee facilities were not topped up daily and we had to ask the receptionist for them.
The room was very nice and comfortable apart from the pillows. Perhaps a feather and down pillow would be more appropriate. The breakfast was excellent, especially the bacon. However, on Sunday morning the eggs were very hard and the hash browns over cooked. The pastries were also over cooked and very dry.

United KingdomNoisy room, for saying it had a refurbishment. Monday to Friday evenings was very noisy with vehicles passing the accommodation we had room on the front there was traffic constantly passing. If you are lite sleeper avoid the rooms on the front. We had breakfast here too, but was not happy when we saw waiting staff undo loaf of bread put her hand in (no gloves) and pulled the bread out to place in basket yuk.
Excellent location for Clumber Park.

United KingdomThe pool was too warm for the summer months - some would maybe like this but too hot after a gym session!
The room was fine, not a bad size with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was superb - buffet style with lots of choice and a special mention for the sausages and bacon! The pool area was very nice with good steam room and sauna.

United KingdomThe whole place is very shabby, really quite scruffy in places. It's crying out for new carpets and a coat of paint. The mattress was so uncomfortable, as were the pillows. My husband and I had a dreadful night. Plus the fire alarm went off at 6am, which didn't help. The swimming pool smelt strongly of urine, the steam room was awful, smelly, dirty and in need of renovation and the changing rooms were very scruffy. The 'spa' was not a pleasant experience.
The staff were fantastic. They were all very friendly and really helpful. The food was great. We had an evening meal, which everyone enjoyed and a fantastic breakfast. Even our vegan was well catered for. It was really well situated for a day out at Clumber Park.

United KingdomMy stay was comfortable, but for a 4 star hotel you would expect more attention on some of the finer details and wider aspects of the accommodation. For example, there was no bottled water in my room upon arrival (when I asked to buy some at the bar I was told there should have been some in my room and was given some, but this was not replenished every day). Similarly, there was no shower gel in my bathroom and this was not checked or replenished either. The sink in my room did not drain well due to it being blocked and the decor in some internal and external areas of the hotel looked tired and needs some updating. There was also a very damp smell in one of the stairwells between floors and there was no air conditioning in the rooms. These things did not interrupt my stay too much, but the hotel should perhaps prioritise these things if they want to retain their 4 star status.
The property is conveniently located just off the A1. The room was comfortable and clean and the pool / spa area was very nice. The staff were all really lovely; the receptionists were very friendly and the girls in the bar / restaurant were really helpful. The breakfast was very good and again, the staff were very nice and friendly.

United KingdomIn much need of a simple paint job inside to freshen the place up Restaurant staff seemed stressed and a tad rude as a result- tried booking a table for 7pm- was told ‘fully booked’- in reality maybe a third of restaurant in use. A kind fellow traveller gave me his slot as his family couldn’t wait that long to get a bite.
One night stay with my two lads after long drive from Scotland en route to Sherwood CP. Pool was the highlight! Room was nice/ clean and three beds a good idea. Most staff very friendly- Reception staff on arrival very abrupt and not welcoming- staff on reception upon departure didn’t even look up from PC/ enquire about stay or say goodbye! Not great when reception are the frontline team/ face of the company. Cleaning staff v friendly though which makes up for this lack of professionalism from reception staff.
