Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI hadn't realised that their was no lift - a problem for elderly people with heavy cases, especially as the stairs to the second floor were steep.
The staff were excellent - very pleasant and helpful, always polite and smiling. Exceptionally, in the evening at dinner, and at breakfast the waiters were excellent. Cheerful, patient and tolerant, coping with those of our group (all 80 year olds) who took ages to decide on their choice, and / or then forgot what they had chosen. Food was excellent, location excellent and the view from our table of the river and church opposite was wonderful.

United KingdomTiny bottles of shower gel despite making a big point of it being special on the web site. Nothing for the bath. We had to ask twice for replacement of the shower gel. Same for bottles of water in the room. Maid came and went and didn’t remember to replace. Our room was a little battered around the edges, and the fridge didn’t work despite the light coming on.
Fantastic location, on the Thames and steeped in history. Very clean. And the staff were excellent especially the barman and staff at breakfast.

United StatesVery warm days in Marlow and the AC stopped working on the third day of my stay. Sweaty days and nights. Lift also stopped working. Mini fridge does not cool at all (but a light does come on!) Cheeses purchased at Sainsbury's had to be tossed in the bin. QR code to call the reception desk using my mobile did not work with my T-mobile International Pass for some reason. "Call cannot be completed"
Absolutely beautiful location for my daughter's wedding!!! Excellent staff...attentive, polite, professional in every way. The English breakfast included with my stay was wonderful. Sindhu restaurant for lunch was a real treat. Very good job daily by housekeeping.

United KingdomThe receptionist made little effort to welcome us, barely looking up from her computer. We booked a double room, but were given a twin. Rather than try to move us, we were offered the bed to be made into a double. It simply isn’t the same. We were eventually offered a double room, but on the ground floor, so we would lose most of the view. In the circumstances we accepted the bed being made into a double, but this was just putting a sheet across the two beds and a double duvet, so we slept with a ridge between is. No one apologised and in fact, after over an hour waiting, we had to return to reception to chase getting the bed made up. It was my husbands birthday and our wedding anniversary, so we did not want to spend time in this way. The lift was not working (these things happen), but whilst I was there, reception were not telling people. Many of the guests were elderly and were using sticks so would find stairs difficult. I’m saddened to say that we felt the people who should be welcoming the guests lacked interest.
The room had a beautiful view and the gardens are very nice. All of the staff at breakfast were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. They really make an effort to assist and were all extremely pleasant and friendly, whilst maintaining efficiency and professionalism-a credit to the hotel.

United KingdomBed had a gap at the end near headboard so pillows fell through. No telephone in the room to call reception, so had to use our own mobile. Not enough water. Lift broken and we were on the 2nd floor. Room service menu small and expensive for what you got. Restaurant over priced. Communication poor.
Very clean. Beautiful location.

United KingdomWe had room 21. My ONLY issue was the toilet. It was set so close to the wall that the large, poorly positioned, metal toilet roll holder dug into my arm and side. It was impossible to sit comfortably on that loo. PLEASE check it out and make some changes. There is room to do so. I have stayed at dozens and dozens of hotels and this was the only time I've experienced such an uncomfortable toilet.
The setting of the hotel was absolutely beautiful. One of the prettiest outlooks I've experienced. Short distance on foot to the town centre and plenty of nice eateries to choose from. Parking was no issue and was free. Breakfast was good and it was lovely overlooking the weir. Ate at the Sindhu one night and that was very nice, if rather expensive (though we had expected that for an Atul Kochhar restaurant). We would certainly stay there again.
