It was perfect!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at chapter one! I arrived early for check-in expecting to be turned away. But I was completely wrong after a long 4-day hike I was surprised to hear my room had been upgraded.

Absolutely immaculate throughout. Steve could not have been more helpful! The breakfast was absolutely delicious and so fresh! Perfect to have with a view of the seafront.

Building was lovely, rooms were spacious and comfortable. Steve the owner was great, very friendly and greeted us on arrival. Breakfast was delicious in the Paris library room. A lot of thought has gone into the hotel and its story which is evident through the service, furnishings & vibe of the hotel.

Very well refurbished to a high standard and with an eye for detail. The presentation of the rooms have been thoughtfully planned out and all the most important things for a short stay are covered- comfortable bed, high quality bedding & towels, efficient shower and good WiFi. The host is exceptionally welcoming and his team very friendly.

Great but my desk prevent access to two plugs.

A change from the usual Weymouth hotel which although comfortable are soulless and focused on .coach parties. The hotel is tastefully decorated and quirky with a high level of comfort and rooms named after books.

Nothing - everything was great.

This hotel pleasantly exceeded my expectations. the rooms were absolutely spotless, which sets the right tone. The room had everything you would need to make your stay comfy, a fan, A/C, TV, tea/coffee station etc. The bed, duvet and pillows were gloriously comfortable, leading to a perfect nights sleep. Steve, the owner, is also very welcoming, approachable and has put a lot of thought and detail in to making Chapter 1 beautiful place to lay your head after a busy day. The breakfast was delicious, the coffee perfect, all while taking in the morning sea views. I would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

I found the air con unit spoiled the ambiance of the room, it feels too large and was very noisy- shame. I just wanted a little fresh air on a warm day but was unable to open the window to sleep with and you couldn't sleep with Ac unit going.

We had a professional and warm welcome by the owner. The property is beautifully decorated we had a very comfortable stay in a relaxing atmosphere. Lovely continental style breakfast featuring delicious warm croissants, fruits, yoghurts and local produce.

From the moment we arrived, he made us feel truly welcome—offering great local recommendations and going above and beyond by including his personal mobile number in the guest handbook, just in case we needed anything during our stay. The location is perfect—right across the street from the beach, with plenty of great restaurants nearby and a couple of cozy pubs just steps away. There is nothing we did not like, but the windows were not able to open they were much too tall you would need a ladder! on a warm night it would be nice to let some air in.
