I have stayed in this hotel many times over the last 20 years, nearly always when I have been walking Hadrians Wall. This time I was in a spacious room in the annex, and it was clean and comfortable as always. Extremely well situated for the AD 122 bus service for various stopping points on the Wall

The room was actually stunning visually but does need some upgrading.

Short walk to the train station and bus stop. Very quick bus ride to Hadrian’s Wall. Right in the middle of town. Breakfast was enormous and the staff were just so helpful and lovely, even running out to the shop to get avocado for me when they’d run out.

Nothing in particular to dislike - all was as expected.

Good spacious suite, excellent friendly staff and excellent breakfasts and dinners. Nearby facilities included a Sainsbury's store a couple of minutes walk away and a decent pub opposite the hotel.

Great location in the centre of town, very clean and very comfy beds. Great breakfast and free parking. Ate dinner in restaurant which was very tasty and reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and helpful

Maybe a fan in room would have helped as window wouldn't open but really that's a small thing.

Breakfast was excellent as was evening meal which we had in hotel. Family run, very friendly and helpful . Bathroom was really nice and big.

Smoke alarm went off whilst boiling kettle.Moved welcoming tray slightly with kettle and alarm didn't go off again.Staircase a bit narrow.

First time here.A novelty to have a stair to bed and entering from outside courtyard. Loved the salmon and egg for breakfast and also a varied continental breakfast.

Not a negative at all and no problem to us, but be aware of the narrow staircase in the room up to the beds and that the bathroom is downstairs.

Fabulous hotel, we loved it. After a long day travelling, we arrived during the busy dinner service but it was no trouble at all to be checked in, shown our room, and offered a table. Such a lovely warm welcome. The food was delicious, both dinner and breakfast the next day. The room small and cosy, with beds upstairs, and all exceptionally clean. The owners answered all our questions about the history of the place and nothing was too much trouble. Our favourite hotel stay of all during our 6 week trip.

The TV was very dated and didn't work great - the sound was very tinny. Probably not needed now most people have phones. The decor was a little dated, but it was spacious and clean and that's what's mattered more

I stayed in Suite A - comfortable, clean and good faciilities with a jacuzzi bath. The tea and coffee making facilities were great. THe bed was great, spacious and clean. Great facilities for walkers and cyclists (they could store your bike). Breakfast was great - small full English was delicious and presented with care.

Stayed here one night doing the Hadrian's Wall Path. Loved the comfortable, modern room we stayed in which fronted onto the car park. Upstairs had the beds and downstairs the sofa, bathroom and TV and we found this a useful layout for our needs. Staff were very helpful and a delicious breakfast was cooked to order. Town itself has some quirky shops and the Manor House opposite has a nice beer garden.
