How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. The level of cleanliness of the toilet and bathroom
The room is large, varied breakfast options, clean bird linen and towels but the toilet and bathroom were not too neat. The kitchen was neat.

Staff not that friendly, place was advertised as a hotel but met something different, the bathroom is not located within the apartment.

Would like for the window curtains to be more thicker to block out the morning light it would be nice to be able to have my own bathroom instead of sharing
The room was spacious and the staff was very friendly and welcoming he was very kind and helpful a special thank you to the lovely gentlemen who check us in

Needed decoration throughout, it’s not expensive to put a little filler in and paint. The shower was cold to lukewarm. Hot-Tap water was cold.
Proximity to my destination. Near to good takeaways. Breakfast was good for the price.

There was a sink in the room but toilet and shower facilities were shared. I had not thought to take a dressing gown so did not use the shower which I think was on the next floor down. When leaving no one asked me how the stay had been or for any comment at all.
Convenient location, good price. There are 2 car parking places in front of the property which were both full when I arrived however you can park on the street overnight and the concierge indicated he would move his car if I needed a space in the morning.

Unfortunately I had loud neighbours on the nights when I stayed at this place. However it’s nice to think people feel free to enjoy themselves.

Lock on the toilet door. Host husband knocking before 7am on the 2nd morning to challenge me about not booking nor paying for that second night. I was calm and answered his questions quietly. I then showed him my receipt for the 2 nights, the dates, my name and the Booking Reference Number. He grunted and left. I was packing to leave anyway, and as I had a long way to drove that day... Downstairs, I handed him the keys, smiled and thanked him 'very much'. I was uncertain if this was the usual scam challenge he gave all guests or whether he truly did not know. His wife, Sarah, let me in on the Friday... Do not know! Unhappy, and will not recommend the Cedars to anyone I know! Cheers, Emily

There is no control on temperature and noise. The room.can be quite cold, even during the summer. There was one single toilet available for the entire house. It plays more like a hostel, although it doesn't sell itself as a hostel. The backyard is a nice space, still useful, but nearly abandoned.
It feels like being part of something. It's a place where anybody fits, but doesn't fit for everybody. One can easily spot foxes and squirrels at the backyard.

I have a disability and there is no downstairs bathroom. Steps into the property may be a problem for wheelchair users! Difficult to get in contact with staff on the phone for minor queries but the live in residents were fantastically helpful.
The location was very good as we were attending an event at Crystal Palace Park. The room was large and spacious with patio doors opening onto a lovely garden. Cleanliness was excellent and lovely quality bedding, mattresses and towels. Continental breakfast was lovely with an abundance of cereals, tea, coffee, toast, jam and fruit etc. Thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. This Georgian/Victorian property is not like a Premier Inn but it provides a lovely flavour of real London to visitors like me. Thankyou, I would definitely return.

Property looked neglected and shared bathroom and toilet rather scruffy.
Staff tried hard to sort out any problems we had. Bedroom and bed linen were clean. Bed was comfortable
