How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Great location, right on Main Street and just a short walk to restaurants and the Tobermory Distillery. The room was small and didn’t have cupboards, but that wasn’t a problem for us since we were only staying one night. There were lots of thoughtful touches, like plenty of pegs for coats and clothes, and the bed and duvet were super comfortable. The bathroom was surprisingly big, really bright, and had a nice spacious shower.

I unfortunately found the bed uncomfortable. Not sure that the mattress topper was doing its job. I also found the duvet quite heavy.
Location was excellent for ferry / buses. Single room had everything you needed and well laid out.

Bathroom quite cramped and small.
Great location with a wonderful view over the harbour. Bella the owner was very attentive and cooked a fabulous breakfast. Very comfy bed and we even had a sofa in our room.

A bit noisy at night from the bar just next door. It wouldn't stop me going back.

On-site parking was wrongly advertised. Street parking was not available until late in the day. Not sufficient space or headroom in our room.
Our attic room had sea and town views. The breakfast included fruit, cereals and hot options.

Nothing to dislike.
We received a very warm welcome. It was comfortable, clean and location was perfect. Would stay there again on any future visits to Mull. Breakfast was nicely done with choices.

We have absolutely no complains whatsoever.
Bella, the hotel's proprietor, was ever so kind and efficient. She provided us with an excellent service. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. The bed was lovely and soft. The room was comfortable. The hotel's location is lovely, right at the waterfront with beautiful views. Parking was easy.

Wee bit disappointed with promised sea view. It was definitely there but to see it you had to stand at the window and look out. Think some rooms have seating at the window or view can be seen from the bed. Didn’t really distract from all the positives though so not a huge problem
Location was perfect. Parking was free and immediately adjacent to the hotel. Room & bathroom were very clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was delicious and all staff we encountered were courteous & professional. Would definitely recommend

No wardrobe only coat hooks to hang your clothes on. The room was on the ground floor and the windows were directly on to the pavement on the main street. We had to keep the curtains closed the entire time for privacy otherwise you had the public looking in. Some net curtains or a blind need to be fitted. Very expensive for a guesthouse.
We stayed in a superior twin room with sea view. The beds were comfortable and the room spacious. The staff were warm and friendly and checked if we needed anything during our stay.

The location is fantastic, my room looked over the harbour. Although small, it was pefect for one (travelling in my own), clean and warm. The breakfast was lovely and the owner was very pleasant. Would definitely stay again. I thought the price was a bit high for one person but I suppose the location makes it more expensive.

We were right by the front door, so we'd hear other guests coming and going at times.
