We liked it all, can't think of anything we didn't like. Maybe the size of the shower in our room it was a wee bit tiny and it took a very long time to get hot water there. Not really a big deal, the hot water eventually reached us.

We stayed for just one night and wish we stayed longer, the grounds are beautiful and the mansion stunning. All the staff were helpful and very friendly. We had a lovely dinner at the mansion, and enjoyed a very nice breakfast with a wide variety of choices.

The devil is in the details : breakfast mediocre and bad organised . Staff is not really costumer- oriënterend . Sitting in the beautiful garden is hard because of the unplessant furniture

Wonderful House in a Great park offering beautiful suites . The public rooms in de House are special .

    Beautiful house and surroundings.

The (Executive) room was under the eaves, so quite stuffy on a warm summer's day. You couldn't open one window more than a couple of inches, and the other not at all. View from the bed on to a sloping roof wall. Not enough provisions for afternoon and early morning tea (tea bags and milk). Of course you can always ask for more, but in a hotel of this class you don't want to have to do that. We had to pay extra for a bathtub in the bathroom. No hooks in the bathroom for towels (where to hang your towels when taking a shower?). Warm water pressure in shower poor. When we arrived, there were no towels in the room and no extra loo roll. To be fair, staff were quick to provide, but this shouldn't happen when you are paying around £360 for a night's stay for two people.

Excellent location for our purposes (visiting a relative in Musselburgh en route to the Highlands). The house and the grounds are stunning - you relax immediately when you go for a walk in the park and woodlands - which after a long car drive is wonderful. Staff at reception were lovely. Room very nicely and comfortably furnished, spacious bathroom with enough shelf space (rare these days!) The food in the Bistro restaurant was good, but took a long time coming.

Room and furnishings a bit tired and paintwork could use some attention. Carpet clean and room refurb would not go amiss. Sink in bathroom was cracked.

Comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Lovely views of the surrounding countryside and gardens from our bedroom windows.

    - we had a short 1 night stay and dinner at the restaurant. Good ingredients, but result is a bit raw lacking to level with the surroundings. I believe it would apply for the breakfast too. Nevertheless, a very pleasing experience, we’d book again without reserve

    - Splendid location, easy to see rabbits on the lawn, our daughter was so happy. - a beautiful estate full of history, - a quiet place, for a peaceful resting - loved relaxing on the first floor lounges - the royal suite and the bathroom

Onky down side is that the room showed some signs of wear to be expected of a historic building.

Unfortunately there was no water when we arrived, not the fault of the hotel but was catered for with bottled water bought in. The room was stifling hot as it was the hottest day of the year, there was a fan supplied in the room but it didn't really help. Shower pressure was poor and felt like a dribble.

Lovely clean rooms, comfortable beds and amazing pillows. The whole place is very well kept for a 500+ year old building. Staff were absolutely fantastic and could not fault them with every interaction we had...5*

    Nothing

I came here five years ago with one group of friends and decided to bring another group this year. Everyone loved the hotel, it has so much charm and character, with different areas to sit and relax and a wonderful outdoor space. I also found the staff to be kind and professional. The restaurant food was also very good and my friends commented on the food as well.

Dinner wasn't great - very ordinary I'm afraid. We probably won't eat in the restaurant when we return.

Breakfast was excellent. Room and bed was wonderful with a great large bathroom and shower. Lovely reception rooms and library - shame it wasn't put to more use for residents.

Buffet breakfast! Disappointed. There were 9 of us and no one liked the scrambled eggs, powdered?? Was actually hoping to be served breakfast with a la carte menu. Hoping for poached eggs and kippers.

Very interesting and lovely gardens. Dinner was very good and staff very pleasant.
