The hosts were excellent and breakfast was fab with a great choice of quality hot food options. The room was spacious, warm and comfortable and great to have two chairs and space to use our laptops. Super clean and bathroom facilities perfect. Would definitely choose again next time we are in the area.

Can't think of a thing

This place is why they invented the word superlative. Well designed, thoughtful and attentive to detail with your comfort in mind. Incredible location to explore Scotland's forgotten corner. Dot gives excellent advice on some of the hidden treasures around that you shouldn't miss. And the view is quietly uplifting, a balm for the weary of soul.

When booking the B and B I took into account the great reviews and boy we were not disappointed. A beautifully presented property in a wonderful location. Our Hosts Dot and Adrian were so friendly and accomodating. Our room was large and the bathroom huge. Our beds were very comfy. The whole property was so clean and tidy and the views were certainly a bonus. Breakfast was delicious and plenty full and loved the fresh fruit salad. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Absolutely nothing!

We had a fabulous 2 night stay at Cairndoon Byre. The B&B was beautiful - from the feather pillows and lovely decor to the most scrumptious breakfast and warmest welcome - Dot and Adrian go above and beyond for their guests. We were in the area doing family history research and very quickly Dot was able to organise for us to have an informal and super informative chat with the family who owned the very farm my ancestors were connected with! Dot and Adrian could not have been more kind or helpful - we arrived at Cairndoon Byre as strangers and left as friends. We cannot recommend this wonderful B&B enough.

It is our go to place when visiting the area. It’s just perfect feather pillows and duvet Egyptian cotton bedding quality toiletries tasty breakfasts views to die for quiet superb outdoor sitting area the rooms are spacious and tasteful and to top it all Adrian and Dot are fantastic hosts nothing is too much trouble they helped us out with a problem when I lost my phone money and credit cards, couldn’t have managed without them.

This is a return visit for us, it has everything we could hope for the place is amazing the hosts Dot and Adrian are the greatest, helpful going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, I lost my phone credit cards and all my cash not only did they help me contact the police and the bank spending hours on their phones they loaned me a substantial amount of money so we could enjoy the rest of our holiday. Anyone who visits this amazing place will come away with lasting memories of views, great breakfasts, duck down bedding, peace and quiet. Will be back very soon

My own preference is for a slightly wider single bed.

Dot, our host, was very friendly and very helpful. Although in a rural location, the entry is well signposted at the side of the road to/from the village of Monreith. There is a good variety of choice for breakfast. Both the omelette (for my friend) and scrambled eggs (for me) were cooked to suit our preferences.

Both Dot and Adrian were very welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us during our stay. They were very friendly and showed us around their beautiful property as well as giving recommendations for the local area. The breakfast they provided was tasty and filling. (Lots of cerial, fruit, toast and full cooked breakfast). The rooms were clean and spacious. Thank you for a wonderful stay we hope to stay again soon!

Breakfast was excellent. Such a choice and cooked to order. Excellent location- good for coast and Galloway Forest Park. Friendly ,helpful informative hosts...helped get the most out of our stay.
