It's a well loved family home, and there is a lot of stuff in cupboards and drawers, which is part of the charm but also made it tricky to find kitchen equipment, or in fact to return it to where we found it afterwards.

Amazing property, beautiful grand building, bedrooms, living rooms and gardens. Superb location next to the river and national trust land. We met we old friends and our children and it couldn't have been more perfect for the occasion.

We would have liked showers, but it is a very old listed property and we understand the difficulties of installing modern power showers. Take a step back in time and enjoy a soak in one of the properties beautiful roll top baths instead.

I booked Buscot Manor as an alternative to a hotel stay for colleagues. From the start, the owner was really responsive and helpful with my questions and I felt like we were going to stay with friends. Every little home from home touch has been thought of and the chocs, biscuits and wine on arrival were completely unexpected and very welcome. The house is beautiful, comfortable and quirky - and absolutely delightful. Our team loved being able to barbecue in the garden and spend time together chatting in the evening, much more enjoyable than a hotel bar. Comfortable beds too. An all round winner.

We loved everything about the property from the minute we arrived. It is a beautiful place and we could not have wished for more. The rooms were comfortable and the beds were excellent. Great bathroom facilities near each bedroom.

The lack of showers - there are showers fitted onto each bath tub but they arent very powerful.

Buscot Manor was a perfect place to spend my nans 80th birthday. The house is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for a big group. There was plenty of room, a dining room that fitted up to 20 and the hot tub was the extra Sparkle on top. Romney was an amazing host, left nan some treats for her special birthday and even let us have the Garden Manor room as an extra suprise. Very attentive and super responsive too.

It would be hard to find any negatives

This is a lovely old mansion which is beautifully decorated but also has an informal feel. It was great for our family celebration of 3 birthdays. We particularly liked the large gardens which were fenced so well that our dog could be off lead. The location is fantastic with many walks.

Buscot Manor far exceeded all our expectations and provided the most enchanting getaway imaginable. Nestled perfectly between Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds, its location offers the best of both worlds, peaceful countryside charm with a wealth of nearby activities. From wild swimming and boating to National Trust gems and fly fishing at Lechlade Fisheries (just 8 minutes away!), every day was filled with joy, relaxation, and adventure. From the moment we arrived, the magic began. Romney, the host, was warm, responsive, and incredibly thoughtful, offering excellent recommendations for local delis and private chefs. The house itself is a true historic treasure, beautifully and tastefully decorated with elegant touches throughout. Each bedroom featured a romantic four-poster bed, and there were full bowls of fresh fruit, biscuits, and chocolate waiting for us on arrival. The bathrooms were equally stunning, plentiful and luxurious, each featuring a dreamy roll-top bath perfect for unwinding after a day outdoors. The kitchen was spacious and fully equipped, easily accommodating our private chef who created a memorable meal with ease. With 14 of us staying, there was more than enough space to relax, cozying up in the multiple living rooms by a crackling fire, or enjoying breakfast together in the charming garden. Morning wild swims left us refreshed and energized, while peaceful evenings brought laughter, good food, and deep rest. Buscot Manor is not just a place to stay, it's a place to truly be. A sanctuary for the soul, and a beautiful blend of luxury, history, and nature. We would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone seeking a special escape, and we’re already planning our return.

I believe that these are things out of the owner's easy control - there are not many plug sockets throughout all of the rooms. This was not an issue as extension leads were available. There are waste bins but they were largely full - I met Romney and we came up with a plan about how we would collect and manage waste.

This is the second time I have stayed here. Romney, the host, is very responsive and I really felt that we were being well looked after. Some guests had various questions before and during our stay, and she was excellent at responding in a timely manner, even when those queries came very early in the morning when we were there! The rooms are as the photographs; kitchen was well stocked with some wine and fruit plates for our arrival. We had full use of the property, including the annexe, and we were able to comfortably fit 20 people without issue. Everyone who stayed very much appreciated what the property had to offer - the front lawn, back garden, hot tub, outside fire, the karaoke, use of the Aga.... The area is very safe. We left the gate open the whole time, and we could see people walking past to and from the lock. There are some neighbouring properties - we did not disturb them at all, they did not disturb us. The tearoom down the road was also a highlight! Parking also excellent - we fit 8 cars on the gravel, but with careful parking, you can fit 10-12.

Hot water tan out very quickly and took hours to heat up so for a large group, we couldn’t all wash / bathe each day. The kitchen cupboards are very stiff and get stuck.

Fantastic space for a group get together. Comfy beds, lovely bathrooms. Beautiful welcome of fruits and pastries. Romney the host is fantastic.

Fabulous location to hold a multigenerational gathering to celebrate anything! Highly recommended

Mentioned by the birthday grandpa that whilst there are many beautiful bathrooms with luxurious roll top baths there isn't one shower. Maybe the ethos is to slow down and relax in this beautiful property, however for the older generation a walk in shower is an expectation. Maybe consideration could be given for updating one of the large bathrooms to include a shower? House mentions it can sleep 20, however ideally suited for maximum of 12 adults; due to the table in the dining room which comfortably seats 12, and six double/king bedrooms, most of which accommodated an extra single bed. Hope that the gardens' borders can be more regularly maintained as the brambles are becoming an eyesore now that they are taking over including the wonderful climbing rose to the front of the house. Suggest upgrading the swingball to a more robust model as it toppled too frequently and a few more water glasses. A wifi extender to increase the signal would be helpful in the first and second floors. These comments are made for awareness and fairly minor given the facilities and elegance of the house and experience we all had - which was super :-)

We were a family of 12 celebrating grandpas 80th birthday, so 2 grandparents, 6 adults and 4 teenagers. The host was great with communications - recommendations of things to do in the area, together with emergency information if needed was helpful. Lights being left on was very welcoming - not environmentally friendly maybe, but assuming they were put on not long before we arrived - was super. The welcome hamper of food set out on the table and fruit in bowls around the property was also impressive and the family were delighted. For such an old building the floorboards hardly moved - our 50 year old house has many more squeaking floorboards and stairs creaking! All of us slept very well, the beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of rooms inside the house to spread out if people wanted some quiet time. The stable door into the kitchen was helpful, as it kept two dogs from being underfoot. The gardens were a great size, fully enclosed for the dogs and we're really pleased we brought along the croquet set for the family to play. The amount of crockery, cutlery, table & glass mats was superb and setting the table to eat indoors or outdoors felt very decadent.

Due to the number of people, there was no one place we could all comfortably sit and be together (apart from the dining table) but as there was a big group of us, it didn't feel like too much of an issue.

Just returned from a stay here with 13 other people, for a weekend away. The booking process was very straightforward, and the listing and photographs are accurate. I was sent an email with house instructions and local things to do and local places to eat. The owner provided us with a lot of food on arrival, and the kitchen was extremely well stocked with cutlery/plates/all sorts of baking and cooking paraphernalia. The rooms were very comfortable, and we all slept well. There are three floors - ground floor has a kitchen, dining room, and 3 social spaces. The first floor has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The second floor has 2 bedrooms and bathrooms. Each bathroom has a full bath with a shower attachment, toilet and sink. Several of the bedrooms also had sinks. There is also a generous outdoor space, with a barbecue, firepit and hot tub. The owner was very responsive by the booking message system, and was very patient with all my questions. One of our number used an electric wheelchair and for the most part, accessibility was fine.

Lots of Potential but needs lots of attention to make it a fabulous vacation home for a large family

    1. Cleanliness was a HUGE miss (barring the bathrooms and the linen) - The property felt too cluttered (esp the Kitchen). Kitchen wasn't cleaned up to the standard we would normally expect from a property with this rating or price. This was brought to the attention of the owner, however not much could be done. She promptly cleaned the BBQ stand outside which was appreciated. However the inside of the property looked very tired and some of the common rooms felt old and dusty once you scratched below the surface. Attention to detail was severely lacking. 2. Upper story and the rooms hadn't been vacuumed well, the hoover in the cleaning cupboard (which was filled with cobwebs) felt like it was un-usable and of a poor quality (in need of being thoroughly cleaned itself or upgraded). 3. Trash bins were full to the brim and had not been emptied (left for collection either which meant we had to walk outside of the house to where a big trash bin was for the national park instead of the bins provided) 4. Numerous subtle points about cleaning which were raised with the owner but left us disappointed and seriously hampered our experience and enjoyment of the property. 5. Some issues with Central Heating and Hot water which were addressed by the host, although once again I would have expected it to be smooth and NOT needing someone to visit the property.. Giving it a fair rating (instead of Poor) because we nevertheless managed to enjoy our stay (despite all the issues) by spending most of our time outside (later half of our stay as we were WFH for the first 2-3 days) and utilising the BBQ (once it was cleaned). Its a shame because the property has a lot of potential but just hasn't been looked after that well.

    1. Great Location - proximity to the lock and river for swimming and walks 2. Very spacious - 6 bed rooms and 5 bathroom (very spacious bathrooms) 3. Outside lawns are wonderful both at the front and the back 4. Bathrooms and linen very clean (but also the ONLY thing we were satisfied with from a cleanliness perspective)

Cooking facilities were lacking a little - the oven did not seem to work properly, and it was a bit of an issue when trying to cook a roast for a large number.

Beautiful house, great location, hot tub is a real plus. Aside from a walk to the pub for a pint we stayed in the house all weekend and really enjoyed our stay. Comfortable, warm and very memorable.
