The grandeur, the fact that I could afford to stay there. It is a fascinating property, beautifully decorated and furnished. It has a cosy feel despite the rooms being so large. Had an evening meal which was delicious and again unexpectedly affordable. The cooked breakfast was equally well cooked and delicious. The staff are so friendly, determined to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Breakfast was very tasty and fresh staff were very polite and friendly we only booked a smalll double room but we got upgraded to a bigger room at no extra cost couldn’t fault anything with our stay

Lovely old house set in a beautiful location. The room was big and airy with an extremely comfortable bed and pillows. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided along with a large bottle of fresh water. Big bathroom with a shower and a free standing bath. The restaurant was nicely laid out, the food good. Excellent breakfast. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back.

Staff were lovely. The grounds were amazing. So peaceful. Loved how you could sit outside with provided garden furniture. Beautiful building.

We enjoyed all of our stay, minor comments : Would have preferred white fluffy towels, bath towels were not large. Empty toilet roll under the bed. After breakfast as we returned to our room, two lovely young staff were sat on the sittee on the first floor landing on their phones. I expect they were waiting to start cleaning but maybe wait in a more discreet place.

Fabulous staff, attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Amazing food and service. We stayed in the bridal suite which was luxurious and so comfy.

Slightly faded, some worn carpet areas and worn fabrics. Worn rubber mat on entry wasn’t the most inviting. Shower curtain around roll top bath made showering a bit claustrophobic, maybe because it was dark blue.

All the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Comfortable room which was serviced daily. Good selection of food at breakfast and dinner, all of which was well cooked and presented. Good location for visiting the Yorkshire Arboretum, we choose it so that we could visit there and see the Red Squirrels, see photos.

The grounds are stunning. There are lots of ancient trees to see, just wonderful. The staff are the most welcoming and pleasant i’ve encountered at a hotel, we loved our stay and would stay again 100%

The tap didn’t stop dripping. The shower was a lovely rainfall shower but we had to keep stopping it because the tray kept filling. You could see into another bedroom from our bed.

It is in such a tranquil location.

Superb stay. Friendly staff. Large, comfortable room. Live alto sax in the bar. They fitted us in for dinner despite not reserving in advance. Food excellent. Full Yorkshire breakfast was proper. Bargain for the price.

There wasn’t anything about the hotel my wife and I could moan about.

This is the type of hotel, when you arrive you say allowed “WOW”. Everything about it makes you glad you booked a room here, first class.

We found the decor in our room (Rosedale) and I. The lounge bar to be drab. It could benefit from a little warmth here and there.

The location is tranquil and very pleasant although signage from the main road and through the village would be an asset. The staff were excellent, as was the food. Would go again.
