It was very warm, with no air con or fan despite the fact the window didn't open.

Exceptionally, lovely staff, good food, the smoked haddock salad was excellent. Good breakfast. Beautiful garden.

The reception on arrival. I appreciate it was a Sunday, but having to find someone to book us in was a little tiresome. Also - it would have been a true bonus if our bags had been taken up to the room.

The evening meal and breakfast were both good. The room was OK.

Perhaps the decor, including the ceilings in the main reception area and foyer, could do with a spruce up as it appeared slightly jaded. Apart from that the inn is lovely and absolutely no complaints otherwise.

Stained stair carpet and duvet cover , damaged tv with a remote that only worked right in front of the tv . Food was excellent but portions were small and very pricey at dinner .

Excellent food both at breakfast and dinner, good quality with plenty for breakfast , well prepared and served by helpful cheerful staff . Quite comfortable room . Lots of parking in an easy to find and accessible car park just outside the entrance

This is a rural dated property so some of the furnishings were a bit dated but one could say it added to the charm .

A quirky little property with lots of rural charm . Good location and perfect for anyone bringing a dog as plenty of walks nearby with village green just opposite . Sadly didn't have time for dinner but breakfast was delicious .... lady serving was most accommodating and nothing was too much trouble for her .... as was the lady on reception . Local village shop within walking distance .

No complaints

We were return visitors. This time we were walking the St Cuthberts Way and stayed here at the end of our first days walking. Nice bar, v good food. Very friendly efficient and helpful staff. Big shout out to the barman for his v accurate knowledge of local public transport. Extremely helpful. Best breakfast of the week!

Staff were helpful and couldn't do enough for you, they were friendly and professional. The food was great both breakfast and evening menu. Lots of choice, tasty homemade meals and great value for money.

There is no onsite presence after bar closed. Had to go downstairs at 1.40 in morning and ask some men to kindly go to bed, which to be fair they did, however this should not happen and they may not have been obliging may also have been a different story if it was my husband who had approached them. So be aware only guests onside from 12 when bar closes.

Maybe next time a room with a view, I know it's difficult as we have a dog with us and they will probably keep so many pet bedrooms.

Welcoming atmosphere, staff very cheerful and friendly. So welcoming of dogs, no restrictions as regards restaurant etc.

The hotel is badly in need of refurbishing. I sat on a threadbare banquette in the bar, covering a six inch hole in the upholstery. Carpets were showing their age, ditto seat covers in the bistrot. Wallpaper was beginning to peel in the bathroom. There were splits in the tongue and groove in my room.

Great staff. Beth could not have been more welcoming or kind. Ditto Ann at breakfast. Excellent dinner. Very convivial. A hub for locals. Exactly what is wanted from a coaching inn.

Only one slight problem but did not stop us enjoying ourselves. Toast was not offered with breakfast and we love our Toast. Breakfast was still lovely.

Location was perfect for our travels. Room was clean and tidy. Evening meal was good. Breakfast was perfect especially the omelette filled with smoked haddock which had just been smoked the day before. Staff very friendly and welcoming.
