Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe parking could be difficult as I always thought the carpark outside belonged to the hotel, but apparently not. Having said that I always did get a space, and there are also spaces on the small road outside.
A vast improvement than previous years, the hotel has been renovated and it is amazing. A complete change and it’s now buzzing with people and happy staff. My room was small but cosy (a large single bed) but had everything you needed, with some nice touches. Located by the Cathedral and a 5/10 minute walk into town. A peaceful location as not in the centre of town.

United KingdomBed was too hard. I have no idea why some hotels think hard beds are a thing, when it’s support you need across your whole body. Instead you just get pressure points in your hips, knees and shoulders
Superior room was average size but had a large bathroom

United KingdomIt's an old building so you could hear people walking about in the room above, but didn't feel this detracted from the stay. If this is likely to bother you, perhaps ask for a room on 2nd floor.
Beautiful hotel and in a great location. 5 min walk into town. We came to do Parkrun which is just over 5 min walk too. Our room and bathroom was modern and clean. Would definitely recommend staying here.

United KingdomWe were above reception & the constant banging of one of the doors was horrendous. All the floor boards were extremely creaky so was awake all night from people in surrounding rooms
The hotel decor was absolutely beautiful

United KingdomMinor improvement will take the hotel to the next level. Requires car parking for guests staying in the hotel, a few more vegetarian options in the menu, and room cleaning service needs some improvement.
Best location, nice ambience of the restaurant/bar, outdoor for relaxing and friendly staff.

United KingdomWe had a very pleasant stay, the only downside was our bedroom which was very very small, if we had had a better room our stay would have been perfect, bit disappointing as had rung beforehand to check on accommodation.

United KingdomSun terrace needed more shades as not enough and the weather was very very hot. I felt the cleanliness of the outside tables could have been better , as tables not cleared or wiped down, so we sat at dirty tables. I felt for the price breakfast would have been included not an additional £15 per person , but of a shock. Please make sure gluten free bread is toasted fully.
The room was lovely and the bed comfortable. The restaurant catered for my wife who was coeliac which was excellent for her and appreciated by myself. Beautiful location and lovely hotel.

United KingdomThere was one window in the roof we couldn't close which made the room a little cold for our baby. Also the room did not have a baby bath which would have been a nice extra (as there was only a shower). I think this could be included when you pay for the cot - there was however a little duck which was a nice touch.
We had a fantastic stay. The staff were wonderful and we ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious, service great too. Room was very clean and lots of nice extras such as a coffee machine and toiletries. Views are exceptional and the updated decor is very nice. Our room was a family room (so not in the main property) and it was lovely and quiet.

United KingdomThe room had an excellent view but it did overlook the outside bar so rather noisy at bedtime. Would have liked a room nearer to the main exit. When travelling with a dog, you do need to go out and in more frequently.
Public rooms are very spacious and there is plenty of options for a place to have a drink or to have a meal so you can avoid the noisy spaces.

AustraliaWith two upper levels of bedrooms, this hotel desperately needs a lift, especially for older clients. It doesn’t have one. The car park is too small for the number of guests. Concierge service was non-existent, which for this standard of hotel is a serious oversight. We needed help to get our suitcases up to our second floor room (no lift), and this was not offered. I had to ask at Reception, and then a member of the bar staff had to be called to help me (he was delightful- Henry). There was no guidance given by the lady on Reception as to where we could park our car elsewhere (I was told that once the functions had finished there would be room, but guests were competing for spaces even after this). The nearest alternative parking was in a Pay and Display car park down a steep hill. The beams in the second floor room were too low for us two tallies, and we banged our heads twice. There needs to be warning about this on booking so people can request a first floor room if they are tall. There is very little choice of food at the hotel for people on a gluten free diet. Other hotels can do it, so there is no excuse for this.
Fantastic location, superb views, very close to town, but quiet. Very comfortable bed, well appointed room and bathroom. Very friendly and helpful staff on the whole.
