There was an odor to the room, not sure if it was smoke or mildew. Also, paper cups for coffee or tea should be made for hot items, not just regular cups. Had to let my tea cool before I could hold it.

Liked the location, easy checkin and checkout. Room and bathroom were plenty big. Pretty clean, could have used a little dusting. Good value.

The Ivy is very close to the city of Edinburgh so we explored everything by walk. This property has no parking so you have to park your car in a parking lot that came to another €25 for 24hrs! The room was basic but it was comfortable to stay just for the night.

No free/designated parking - with several guest houses all lined up next to each other, first come first serve to the street parking and several times we came there was no parking. Would not book again for this reason. The room itself was also warm and with no fan provided it was a bit uncomfortable. The rooms are so close with no soundproofing that you can also hear your neighbors ins and outs.

The location is good, it’s close enough to all of the sights. The decor is quaint, and the check in was easy.

The bed was really sweeky which did wake us up throughout the night a new solid base would do the trick rather than a spring base. The room was really warm but it was a hot night. When we had the window open the road could get a bit noisy and the seagulls (which isn't the host's fault) were noisy at times.

Our stay was last minute at a busy time in Edinburgh. The room, bedsheets and bathroom were spotless. The host was so friendly and accommodating. The area was about a 15 minute walk from the Grassmarket so handy for us.

We didn't have a hand towel, and shower water pressure was pretty weak.

Communication was excellent! We had to change travel plans, and we were able to change dates and get a refund. Overall everything was as good as expected.

The shower stopped working. I wrote in the chat that it doesn't work, but I haven't received any response or seen it fixed. So I was left without an option to wash last night.

Was a good location, only a 15 minute walk to Old Town and castle, 30 Min walk to New Town. Budget friendly for a couple. Great after hours check in. Can hear road noise all night if you are in one of the front rooms

Room (and building in general) was really warm, uncomfortably so. Metal bed frames meant they were v loud and squeaky anytime you moved an inch. Maintenance started drilling and hammering quite early, woke me up.

Good location to easily walk into the centre. Bathroom nice and roomy, room was clean. Great to have lots of windows that opened wide to let fresh air in.

The hot water was connected to a small heater, a bit hard to find the right temperature, but it was ok in the end.

Host was very friendly and very kindly moved us to a lower floor when he saw we had heavy suitcases. Room was comfortable and clean and ideally situated to walk into the centre of Edinburgh. Comfortable bed and good hot shower. Perfect base for a short stay.

Not necessarily a bad thing but we were on the top floor which is rough after walking around the city all day.

Within walking distance of Royal Mile and other sights we wanted to visit. Host was very gracious and gave us suggestions for parking. We booked this at the last minute due to a schedule change with another property.

The only thing was the shower head, it was broken.

It was very nice room for a couple, it was clean and the location is great. We arrived a bit earlier, before our checked in but there was no problem to live our stuff and start our trip 😊
