Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdompotholes on the road enroute from fairy bridge- (I know this is absolutely nothing to do with the Bitacora owner), but made a slow last hop of the journey. We found the approach from the top road via the old church better.
Super quiet picturesque location clean warm, well maintained with everything you could need. Great local walk to waternish point 3hrs (take binoculars and see seals). 30 mins to Portree for supermarket to stock up on the way. Skyeskyns Yurt, down the lane, served wonderful cake.

Hong KongThe internet at the property was poor and unreliable. I strongly encourage the owners to upgrade the internet at the property. Its important, especially for foreign visitors to have good internet. Its probably the only drawback from receiving excellent scoring from us.
A remote location, quiet and very picturesque. The three bed cottage is well equipped for a family of up to five overlooking Ardmore Bay. The layout having a separate living & dining offers families to have simultaneous activities at the same time.

United KingdomIt is quite remote . It is on hill . U definitely need car , preferably 4/4 .you need car anyway to commute on isle of sky from point A to point B . But the property location add further distance . No doubt , you need to travel 30 min at least for groceries . Michelin star restoring is close but very difficult to get table . So , u need to go and get groceries and make your own tea .
Immaculately clean , well equipped . Very easy to get hold of owner and he even came back to give us cooking oil on first day . Beautiful surroundings .

United KingdomWiFi connection wasn't great, in case you were thinking of a working holiday. The host could have communicated the location of the accommodation beforehand as post-code doesn't take you to the right space. The slope going up to the house is very steep, and the gravel make it even more tricky to get up the slope, my car wheels were spinning and smoking.
The location was amazing, such beautiful views. Nice little touches, i.e. providing laundry detergent, washing up liquid, hiking maps. Host was very responsive.

United KingdomNo contact with owner. Tried phoning a couple of times, although in fairness didnt leave a message. Would have appreciated a bit of honest guidance on the TV situation (of which there are three on site) No aerial signal, no Wi fi to speak of and main TV only works with a Sky card (which we didnt have). Sky did allow viewing of 4/5 channels, so not a complete disaster. Also would have liked notes on where we can walk, as everywhere is fenced off other than the road. Be warned to gravel drive is very steep indeed, but we had no problem with it.
Absulutely stunning location. Very remote, so suggest clients are warned in advance to arrive equipped with plenty of provisions. It is 25 miles to the nearest supermarket, and 9 miles to the village store. Lovely large bungalow, plenty of space. Liked hard floor instead of carpet. The whole place felt clean. Comfy bed. Great to be able to sit out at the picnic bench or gaze out of the living room window, watching the sun go down. Magical.

New ZealandThere was nothing I didn’t like about the house. Very comfortable and warm. Minor suggestions would be more kitchen utensils like a grater and frying pan/wok.
The house is in the most amazing location - just about at the end of the Waternish peninsula. Views and serenity you dream about.

United KingdomThe goat track leading to the property is a test for all cars suspension and if anyone from the council reads this perhaps they could spare some tarmac!
Stunning location in a remote area away from the real world. Watching 2 sea eagles hunting was a real bonus along with seeing the milky way in a crystal clear dark sky. If you just want to relax this is the ideal place.

United StatesNothing. It’s superb.
The location. It is quite remote, which for us was a bonus as isolation in nature is often desired. The water views are outstanding, and we would argue that the photos that are part of the property description do not do it justice! It is a very comfortable space with a wonderful living room that became the central focus of our time spent while in the house. It is fully stocked with most everything that a rental property can offer. The owner has a booklet with highly relevant and useful information about sights to see, nearest grocery stores, important phone numbers, etc.

United StatesNever could figure out the television. Also tried to locate a place on Skye to purchase dvds to play on the dvd player but there is no where to buy them. So evenings were quiet, but would have loved for the kids to have been able to relax at night with a show or movie.

IrelandToo secluded for us. Booking.com address brought us to a different property nearby but we found Bitacora on google maps. The host was not at the property for check in as we expected but we received an email just after we arrived to let us know where the keys were. The house manual should be updated to include TV/ Wifi instructions.
Lovely warm spacious house with great view over Ardmore bay. The house was equipped with cleaning materials, toiletries, tea/coffee and biscuits, salt&pepper - nice touches. Secluded location.

ChinaThe main trouble was that the owner told us that a unremovable stain was found on the drawer of a bedside unit in the master bedroom and accused us of causing the dirt on 22 June 1023. The owner said that we would be charged for the repair cost. While we had certainly not done anything causing the so call "stain", we had checked out of the apartment on 14 June 2023. We wonder what happened after we left and whether the stein was there when we checked in! We are troubled and annoyed. Future guests may consider checking carefully all around to notice if there are any problems, or even take photos as a precaution. I have been using booking.com for many years to book accommodation at various countries and it is the first time that I have come across an accuse by an owner. We are greatly disappointed by the unreasonable accuse and claim. We would certainly reflect our disappointment and experience through various means as well as lodging a complaint towards the unreasonable treatment on us. Furthermore, the water outlet in the separate bath room was not functioning well, resulting in some flooding and slippery floor. There were many midges outside the house and their bites caused much discomfort to us.
Remote location with good view, quiet:no disturbance and apparently few cars passed by, large rooms with plenty of space, good kitchen equipment, pleasant decoration, all on ground floor no need to climb stairs, washing machine, and good wifi.

NetherlandsIn hindsight the house is very remote. But the view is spectacular and made up for it. It is a long drive though from any part of the island and the roads to it are terrible. On our arrival day we got a disturbing call that the house was not ready and that the owner had tried to cancel it but due to booking.com that hasn’t come through. We booked at the 27th of april paid the full amount on the 17th of may and arrived on the 31st. How come you just then realize (probably because i sent a message at what estimated time we intended to arrive) after 35 days that your cancellation hadn’t come through. And then the request. Please come as late as possible because I have other things to do today. That is not funny at all and very disturbing since we don’t het have any alternative then to agree. That is was a real bummer to our holiday. Also to hot water supply doesn’t allow you to fill up the jacuzzi so that is worthless also.
What you see is what you get.

United Kingdom-Internet is so slow that we were not able to use our laptop to plan next day activities -the abstraction hood kept dripping oil (I wiped and cleaned it but next morning it was still there (this was on day of arrival not our cooking) -in the "house" booklet is not advised how to get hot water (we found that instruction later) -the shower drainage in the main bathroom does run very slow, creating a huge pool when showering -due to the surface I struggle on initial arrival up the driveway (wheel spin)
A spacious cottage, stunning views over the bay and Atlantic (outer Hebrides) , good beds, fantastic wildlife (many birds) no lights nor sound in the wide surrounding (other than the wind - birds and sheep)
