Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere wasn’t much to dislike. If I had my way, I would have liked a Bluetooth radio in the cabin. I’d also suggest a strainer for pasta. Aside from that, it was what you’d expect for a small cabin at this price point.
It’s very secluded and the views are amazing. There is a fairly long and steep walk to the cabin, but it’s worth it…and it helps keep you in shape.

United KingdomThe steep hill leading down to the lodge was fine on the way down but hard work on the way back up! It was only a short distance, but bear it in mind when you bring your luggage back up from the lodge!
Location, view, the layout of the lodge and the hosts were lovely!

United KingdomThe hike to accommodation was a strength but also a weakness. We booked it through Booking.com and felt this was not made clear enough, though we think the information was there. We had rucksacks so not a problem, but anyone staying there needs to know not to take a case!
Location and surroundings. The accommodation could only be accessed on foot through a door in a courtyard, across a field, through a gate and down a steep track. The effort was worth it with no buildings or lights in view from the accommodation and nothing but silence. The perfect 'get away from it all' location!

United KingdomWe loved everything.
Perfect little cabin for our stay for a few days. We absolutely loved it. Stunning location. Very clean and it has everything needed inside. Easy to pop into Woolacombe or other places like Croyde etc. The walk through the woods into Lee is lovely! The hosts are great, Debbie was very helpful. Will definitely be back!

United KingdomNothing not to like! We did think a black out blind in the bedroom would be helpful for early sunny mornings. Also a photo of the kitchen area and better description of what is provided on the website as we were not sure and pleasantly surprised!
Such a beautiful lodge and what a setting! We loved the views and the firepit seating area. Everything perfect for a long weekend in north Devon. A big thanks to Debbie and for the courtesy biscuits and wine which was a nice extra.

United KingdomMy Wife and I had a lovely time, staying at Birdsong Lodge for Her 40th Birthday. The view from the Lodge is beautiful, and we enjoyed watching the sun setting over the crest of the hills, with a drink in hand and the warmth of the fire pit, before us. The Lodge had everything we needed to set us up for days of coastal walks, and to return to make dinner that we enjoyed on the decking, before retiring to a very comfortable bed. The Owners were very welcoming and helpful, and have made a truly special place to stay in the beautiful North Devon countryside.

United KingdomEverything was so well thought of, from making the most of the space inside with creative storage, to the positioning of the lodge itself - tucked away, very private with stunning views and perfect for watching the sun set. Debbie and David were very friendly & made sure we had everything we needed and more! There was a complimentary bottle of wine, tea coffee biscuits and milk (thank you!) and blankets/cushions and kindling for when we used the fire pit. The location was perfect. Roughly 10 minutes drive from Ilfracombe & Woolacombe beach, the farm was easy to find following the clear instructions provided. There was a lovely wooded walk mapped out from the farm to Lee, as well as lots of other walks / guide leaflets left for us. The lodge was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Would definitely stay again!

United KingdomNothing. The weather was stormy so we didn't take advantage of exploring local area. We also missed out on the wildlife but there will be another time.
Everything. The cabin had everything we needed for a stay over New Year. It's was warm and exceptionally clean. The hosts were very kind and left us some biscuits and a bottle of wine.we would highly recommend Birdsong Lodge.

United KingdomLoved it all.
We had arranged to arrive earlier so we had made arrangements about the keys directly with the hosts. The accommodation was immaculate. The hosts had kindly left milk in the fridge for us plus a bottle of wine and chocolate cookies! It was a perfect break as it was so peaceful. We would definately go back.
