Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe signal to the tv and Wi-Fi were a little problematic but the host is sorting this out with a tv engineer.
The hut is set in a lovely location and within beautiful scenery. There is a running stream at the bottom of the garden. The drive up to the hut is through a wooded winding lane which is very quiet and beautiful. The hut is modern and clean. The mattress is very comfortable. The host Martin is very helpful and he runs the local inn. The food served at Ty Gwynn was home cooked and very good.

United KingdomWhat a hidden gem ! A stunning picture postcard Shepherd hut in a beautiful tranquil setting yet everything within reach. The hut was immaculate with thoughtful extras like fluffy white towels, warm dressing gowns & disposable slippers for the hot tub,a jug of milk and even a bottle of Prosecco which were lovely touches. Martin and his wife were the perfect hosts, very friendly and helpful, always out of sight but on the end of the phone if needed . We were very lucky with the weather in early April and made the most of the area; Betws-Y-Coed,Swallow Falls,Porthmadog, Black Rock Sands and Snowdon-the hot tub was much needed after that adventure ! Yet we still found time to enjoy the peaceful setting to relax and unwind. We also had a lovely meal at Martins Hotel- Ty Gwyn Hotel on our last evening which was beautifully presented, piping hot and welcoming friendly service. Would we return…. ? Most definitely

Great 2 night break, specifically looked for something different in this area, with a hot tub. Beautifully decorated and maintained in an exceptional location view wise and within walking distance to the town. Bed is very comfortable and had a great sleep with it being so quiet with the shower roomy for a shepherd's hut. Loved the hot tub after a hike up to swallow falls and back. Host Martin was brilliant nothing too much trouble. We ate twice at his family hotel/restaurant at the bottom of the hill as the menu is varied and the cooking outstanding and not expensive for what is available/portion size (lovely half a lobster with prawns and crayfish and half a duck). Would highly recommend.

United KingdomNot really a negative but the bathroom door was difficult to close at the bottom. It could do with a couple of coat hooks for the towelling robes that were kindly provided.
The shepherds hut is in an ideal location, away from the town (so nice and peaceful but a short walk away), and just perfect for a romantic weekend away. The bed was very comfortable. The log burner kept us nice and snug at night. It had everything that we needed, including a fridge in the outdoor kitchen and the use of the BBQ. There were even 2 complimentary bottles of Prosecco ready for our arrival. The hot tub was the icing on the cake. We stayed in it until the early hours, star gazing and listening to the running stream in the background. Martin, the host, was extremely helpful and made us feel at home. He even came and met us in the town and showed us where the hut was. Nothing was too much bother. We even had morning visits from Lyra, Martin's dog, who was after a belly rub or two! We will definitely be back to stay in the shepherds hut.

The location is amazing, It’s the perfect base to explore the national park from. The area around the hut is really peaceful too with good views and the sound of a running stream. The hut itself was clean, had everything we needed and is bigger than other huts I’ve stayed in! Martin was really welcoming and got us a table at his restaurant too which had great food. I would highly recommend staying here!

United KingdomThe location was quite hard to find - make sure you get directions or chat to the owner before setting off!
Very picturesque location, clean, comfortable and cosy. A short (but steep and strenuous!) walk down into Betws down a private footpath. The owner also runs and operates a pub in the town, which I would highly recommend for dinner - the food was exceptional.

United KingdomThe time went far to fast.
We liked this accommodation and hot tub location. We felt that we had the place to ourselves. The owners were on tap if we wanted them but left us alone to enjoy peace and quiet. It was a beautiful location. It felt remote but wasn't at all. The owners had a hotel on the main road with outstanding food. Beautiful place to eat .

United KingdomWe had the most wholesome stay over the past weekend at Shephards hut. The hosts were lovely and the dog was very friendly! We felt that the hosts were very accomodating and helpful whilst also allowing us privacy throughout our stay. The town is only a 20 minute walk away! The walk down is steep at parts so make sure you’re wearing appropriate shoes. Highly recommend!
