There was nothing to dislike.

The hotel has a wonderful boutique feel to it. The property was extremely clean with very friendly staff. The owners have thought of everything from the information book in the room which gave lots of local information to the wellies available to borrow for local walks. Ample car parking. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend, its the perfect package.

A perfect and peaceful retreat with very comfortable rooms (and good tea/coffee provision), an excellent bar, garden and restaurant. 'In the middle of nowhere', but in the best possible way and just a few minutes' drive from Sherborne. Our visit overlapped with the silent film event in the church 'next door', which was a memorable and very lovely experience.

Loved everything.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The garden room was clean and comfortable with its own patio set. The food was delicious, the best sea bass I have ever been served. I loved the quirky decor. There was something interesting wherever you looked.e.g. central lights made of wine glasses, and one made of decanters. Great idea! Loved everything about this hotel.

quite hard to get soap out of the pumps but there was a bar of soap you could use.

Very comfortable bed, lovely room with a countryside view. The food was excellent, beautifully presented at both dinner and breakfast. The parking was very good, no worries about getting a space.

All Minor issues: Less keen on the full English. Would have been nice to get a beer after 10pm on Saturday night. No aircon during heatwave but we knew that.

Spacious room size and layout. Modern bathroom facilities and design. Liked the Salmon and egg breakfast and Homemade Granola. Staff and owner very welcoming. Rural setting. Gardens and patio. Traditional country house feel. Relaxing lounge bar (country pub style). Very nice sea bass meal.

Clean comfortable spacious room. Quiet location. Restaurant pricey with breakfast at nearly £20 so could not afford to eat there.

They should have the small bottles of sparking wine.,

Really enjoyed the breakfast. Excellent. The problem I had was that in the evening we had dinner there. We thought that it was particularly sparse with choice and the amount. We eat a la carte quite a lot but never so meagre with portions. Also I asked for a sparking wine in the bar after and found out that the bottle had been opened the previous day and it basically was flat. So I didn't have it as they refused to open a new one. Again I have been places and they are very happy to open a fresh one. I think they should introduce the smaller bottles with choice of rose as well. The food at breakfast was extremely good and plentiful. The rooms very good and comfortable. Everything else was excellent. Wouldn't recommend the dinner.

What not to like?! Great location. Well decorated, great care taken over decor. Excellent mix of tradition and boutique hotel vibe. Didn’t look “tired “ which can be a major flaw with many hotels

I was asked when I checked in if I would be having breakfast during my stay and if so it would be £18.50. I declined and said I would just order eggs. I was told there was no menu. Only the full breakfast. I of course could order just eggs but would be charged for the full breakfast. I didn’t want to pay £18.50 just for eggs.

Rooms were very spacious and so clean. Bathroom was spotless. Rainfall shower was wonderful.
