How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Shower room and toilet very limited space
Location was good for what we wanted, breakfast was cooked nice and fresh and Donald the host had some excellent stories.

The shower was a bit of a tight squeeze,& water pressure was not too good ,but still usable .
The B&B was in a lovely quiet area , near the town centre & shops, bus & train station not to fat away if you want to explore areas , friendly people in town , The host Donald was lovely, full of local knowledge & great at making you feel welcome. , lovely breakfast, rooms kept cleaned,

It was easy to find and in a good location . It was clean and felt homely . The room was as the photos showed . Donald made us feel very welcome . We enjoyed hearing about his Boxing Days .

Comfortable and friendly. Great location for walking over to the cathedral and Biblical garden, or into the town. Lossiemouth and other places within driving distance for a change of scene. Helpful host.

The shower & toilet was quite small but manageable & matched the size of room advised in the description.
A lovely, squeaky-clean, quiet, 1st floor, B&B Double Room with comfortable bed & very good wifi. Though the room was small (as indicated in the description) it lacked nothing – host Donald, has put in thought & effort to ensure guest/s comfort. Donald was a very hospitable, friendly & interesting host & provided a delicious breakfast. On-street car-parking or paid car-park immediately opposite the property. Walking distance from Elgin town centre. Would recommend.

Nothing - it suited us perfectly.
The B&B was about 20 minutes walk from the station, but easy to find and very near the Abbey and shops. We were able to leave our bags until official check-in time, giving us the freedom to explore the Abbey and surroundings. The very cheerful host prepared breakfast and we had great conversations about sport, boxing in particular, since he was a Scottish champion and is engaged in the life of the town! The room was small and cluttered but very clean and quiet and had a good feeling of homely character. There was a pub down the road with friendly staff and which served a good evening meal.

Quite happy otherwise.
Breakfast was good. The finding of the place was not as good as expected and the maps system could get within about 50 yards on the wrong road.

There was nothing that i disliked. Be prepared for a house packed with family items. Somewhat cluttered but this adds to the charm. Bedrooms are outdated but very comfortable and spotlessly clean. You could be forgiven for thinking that the items at the front of the property suggest chaos. In fact they are part of a big money raising venture by a very generous and thoughtful host. I loved it here. Perfect location for the town centre

The owner here is an extremely nice gentleman with a very interesting history and profession which you might be interested to discuss with him. This is a very nice place to stay, very quiet and very welcoming.

Donald very welcoming and runs a a homely b and b. Breakfast is pre ordered. I was made very welcome. Parking is available opposite the property. Donald is a local loon and knows the area well.

My matress was definetly on its last legs, with one side sinking down more than the other. I did have to brace all night to not roll off, but got a decent night's sleep none the less. The property is quite cluttered, if that is something that bothers you definetly choose somewhere else to stay.
The owner/host was very friendly, making sure you were happy with everything and pointing out the big things to see in Elgin. Bathroom was nice, I would say renovated within the last 5 years, accesable for those with mobility issues. Breakfast was tastey.
