Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe corridors/communal areas were messy, old and dated. The bedroom needed a make over to make it feel lighter and more modern. There were people playing table tennis till about 4 in the morning and it could be heard from our room. But I suppose it's a hostel so this is to be expected!
During the festival, the price seemed reasonable. The communal showers and toilet areas were very clean. There was a big kitchen to make meals if you were on a budget.

AustraliaOur bunk room smelt very musky. Not sure if it was moss or dirty sheets/carpet but it wasn’t incredibly pleasant in our room.
It was very cool staying in the old church. Facilities and common room were all good.

United KingdomThe place was pretty noisy, unfortunately. It didn't help where our room was situated as we were right next to the canteen, the cleaning cupboard and the male showers so there was noise constantly through the night so we didn't really sleep. Minus the noise the hostel was great! Just wish we were situated somewhere slightly quieter in the hostel.
Loved the location! A hostel in an old church was really cool to see and wasn't far from the centre. Our room was cosy and clean. The beds were very comfortable! Staff were lovely too.

Czech RepublicI stayed in a bedroom for six. Even though there were only five of us, the air in the room was very bad in the morning, only possible ventilation was through a ceiling window, which we could not reach to open.
Located within walking distance from the city center in beautifull Dean Village. Attractive interior for those who can appreciate original and unussual things. Spacious and well-equipped kitchen, nice and comfortable common room.

CanadaOur room was on the main floor near an emergency exit out the back. There was someone doing work on their car for the majority of our stay just outside our room/the outside hallway. So in addition to the noise, there was a bit of a security concern with the door being left open and unattended. Also meant the whole back hallway was freezing cold as any hot air from our room just got pulled out. Also, I don't know if the garbage was out the back in the same area or what, but there was a lingering smell in the hallway, full garbage bags that sat inside the back door, and despite the relative emptiness of the low season, it seemed like we were in a pretty high traffic area. There is NO cancellation or refund policy, even for one night of a longer stay. My partner and I had considered an extra day in our previous destination but there was no flexibility in this booking, so something to consider.
Pretty cool novelty getting to stay in a converted church! Generally speaking the volunteer staff were kind and friendly. We booked during the off season, so it was a pretty empty space compared to what it might be during peak. Decent amenities, pool table, tv/game room, foosball, and large kitchen. Overall, one of the better hostel experiences I've had.

United KingdomThe shower was hot but the flow wasn't very good. Also the rest of the hostel outside our room was very cold but that's kind of understandable given it's a huge old converted church.
Quiet, clean hostel with very good kitchen facilities (even though I didn't use them); the twin room we stayed in was very warm and comfortable. Point added for tea making facilities in the bedroom. Nice spacious bathroom.

United StatesThe location is a bit far from the city and where everything is at, but take a bus and it's not bad, for the price it was worth it. Noise traveled, which didn't bug me, but if that matters to you that's something to keep in mind.
Very clean and nice. Bathrooms are newly updated and kept super clean. Staff was super accommodating. Building is old but charming and clean.

United KingdomIts an old church building converted into hostel, so obviously its not a modern place - I was fine with that but it may not be for everyone.
I stayed in a single room accommodation, which was all for me, with shared bathroom. The place was clean enough, even though the building is very old and windows would allow draft to come through. It was no problem at all in June but I can't imagine being there in Winter. The heating is good otherwise and overall the place worked out all fine for me. The canteen was filled with young people - nice vibe but was a bit too loud with the karaoke playing

United StatesThe toilets had a rough smell, the showers needed some TLC as well and the toilet/shower spaces just seemed to be falling apart slowly. The walls are all paper thin, so you can hear conversations from all over.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The beds are comfortable in the 8person dorm and the kitchen is quite big! It's also in an old church, which you don't get to see much of but it's still really special.
