Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA minor quibble: An area of flat grass for a kick about.
We were fortunate to enjoy a lovely summer day during our one-night stay in early August 2025. This rural retreat is a hidden gem, peacefully tucked away in the countryside, yet easy to find with the host’s clear instructions and sat nav. Have faith and head all the way down Sandy Lane. The hut is beautifully designed, combining rural charm with modern comfort in a thoughtful layout. Communication with the host, Alice, was excellent throughout, and it was a pleasure to meet her in person at checkout. She’s just as lovely as her messages. Don’t hesitate, book and enjoy this serene escape!

This shepherd’s hut was such a special find – quiet, beautifully tucked away, and full of thoughtful details that made our stay feel both cosy and memorable. It’s clear a lot of care has gone into creating the space. The hut is well-equipped, spotless, and incredibly charming – we instantly felt at home. The setting is stunning. We loved sitting outside in the evening, watching the sky change colour over the fields, and our daughter had the best time exploring the surroundings. It’s a lovely balance between nature and comfort. One of the standout parts of the experience was the host. Communication was spot-on from the beginning – she was warm, flexible, and incredibly helpful. Everything we needed to know was clearly laid out, which made settling in really easy and stress-free. We also really appreciated the little extras – local treats, suggestions for nearby walks, and small touches that made the whole stay feel personal. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a slow, peaceful break from city life. We left feeling completely recharged

United KingdomNothing, it was perfect!
We had a magical stay here over a sunny May weekend. It’s located on the edge of a large field surrounded by bushes and woodland - no other buildings around so you’re really in the middle of nature - a fox, lots of birds etc. We found fresh eggs, blueberries and marshmallows in the hut as we arrived. The bed was huge (king size I think!) and one of the comfiest we’ve ever slept in. The kitchenette, compost loo and warm shower were under a separate hut and really well stocked with everything you could need. The fire pit was huge with lots of wood to use. It’s now up there with our favourite place we’ve stayed in! Thank you so much to the host Alice who was so lovely and helpful when messaging! We’ll be back, thank you.

United KingdomSecond time going, beautiful place, got to see a few animals about, birds a barn owl, deer in the field on our dusk walk up the path. Bed so comfy a lovely chilled experience with my husband, his birthday treat away. My husband was not a fan of the compost toilet but I didn't mind, lovely shower, something wild about showering in a field with birds singing all around you. Loved it

United KingdomThis is a lovely place to get away from it all, it really is secluded, the shepherds hut is comfortable and cosy and the separate building that houses the kitchen, shower and toilet is made of everything reclaimed, it’s quant and quirky, but at the same time is clean and has everything you need, the owner really has thought of everything. The fire pit is fab, evenings spent sitting round the fire toasting marshmallows were perfect. This was our second visit and we will return.

United KingdomPeaceful, relaxing and comfortable. Seeing the deer was a bonus. The facilities were just right and the welcome box a lovely gesture, especially the Raspberries. I would like to return and spend more time just to sit and enjoy the peace. If you’re not great at starting wood fires take some kindling it really helps to get the fire pit going. I took two fold up chairs as my mother is 82 so not up to sitting on the log seats. The track to the site has a few pot holes, but it’s ok. There is a little coop that was well stocked about 5-10 mins away if you need plus pubs. The position of the hut provides a stunning sunrise, and sunshine till late afternoon.
