Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe parking, despite being close, was horrendous as it was so busy. I appreciate i arrived on a bank holiday but all paid car parks were full and i had to drive around for nearly an hour to get a space close enough to carry our luggage to the property. Paid car parks were slightly easier the following days but little chance of ever getting the free parking advertised at any time. We had a huge issue with the bathroom in general, but particularly the shower. The bathroom was not clean - hairs on the sink, mould in the grout, the wall crumbling, bath not clean. Hot water was non-existent despite changing the control to "on" and the water pressure was also very poor. There were several hairs in the bed upon arrival - just hoping they were not canine, but any hair was an issue for us. Could also learn to dust the top of the bed as with the window open the breeze blew this on you!
The location of the cottage was superb - could not have been better. The living room was cosy and the kitchen facilities were good in terms of what was available. The mattress was super comfy.

United KingdomIt is on busy main road so quite a bit of traffic noise at peak times but didn't disturb us too much.

United StatesThere was nothing really to dislike. Maybe a little noisy from street but it dies down early enough.
It was very quaint. I had not stayed in such a property so wasn’t quite sure what to expect but it did not disappoint. I think my favorite part was the back garden and having my morning tea there. Only disruption was the wrong code to get into lock box but owner responded immediately and problem was corrected.

United KingdomShower pressure is low, the cottage is directly on a main road, the kitchen would benefit from a drying rack by the sink and a few more mugs.
Cozy, comfortable, fairly well equipped, good wi-fi and tv.

United KingdomTaps didn’t work properly, shower not adequate, hot water only lasted a couple of minutes, shower curtain rings stick, curtain hangs too low and is easily trodden on. Cottage could do with sprucing up, lots of cobwebs, garden was a mess
Bed was comfortable, plenty of room for 2 people, good location

United KingdomI must stress this is very picky and may not be an issue to others staying…. The shower, taps & back yard; the water kept going cold whilst in the shower and the pressure was intermittent so we didn’t use it the second day and had to use a friends. There’s a shower curtain all the way round so they suck in and touch you which is grim. it would benefit from a square bath and a glass screen instead: all the taps drip and have to be run a good while to get hot water with no pressure. The back garden is a mess, it looks like the fence has collapsed and it generally needs a good sweep up. We watched the dogs but there was no outdoor light for evening toilets so that was a pain amongst the mass of leaves & general unkept mess. However everything else was great and we’d return if the shower situation was better.
Close to friends and great for the dogs. Having a vacuum to use helped us keep it clean with the dogs. The kitchen was a perfect space for them to sleep. it was quirky and cosy.

United KingdomPersonally I prefer a shower. The bath may look great but practically I don’t think it works- especially if you want to wash your hair. I was very conscious of not getting water everywhere- other people may prefer a bath- but I think a shower is more environmentally friendly and I don’t like shower curtains as they’re a bit too clingy. But that’s my opinion.
The cottage was very charming and quirky with A quiet garden.

South AfricaThe property is right on a busy road & is really, really noisy with very poor ventilation, making it stuffy & hard to sleep. There is no table downstairs on which to work or eat & the second bedroom does not have a full-sized double bed. We checked out two days early as we needed more space to work & couldn;t sleep. There is also no place to off-load your bags as the property is right on a busy road. Ther internet went down while we were there, the bath took an age to run.

United KingdomOh dear, I've never left a bad review on Booking.com in 15 years but this was my worst experience sadly. I booked 13 days in advance but didn't receive any check in details from the owner. These always come in an email and are posted into the joint messages (most people don't even know about these). It was so hectic with moving house and this was our 2 night stay after our furniture had been collected before heading to our new home. I went to the property early but couldn't find anyone. Then texted and called. I even called to say, 'don't worry, I can come later in the eve' but I should have had access from 3pm. I called the owner 9 times (declined) & sent texts. So, in the midst of a massive house move and no furniture I spent 3 hours on the phone to Booking.com who said that the owner had sent the access PIN code at 8pm at night, 5 hours after the booking started. I couldn't see it and there was no text, call or email from the owner or Booking.com. We slept on the floor that night under coats. The next night we did find a hotel and I was eventually refunded. Worst experience ever.

United KingdomThis is a conveniently located cottage in Marlow; situated close to the High street. The host was extremely accommodating to extend my stay when my plans changed unexpectedly. He was very quick to respond to all my messages, even late at night and sent a message to make sure that I had arrived and settled in.
