How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

If I had to find something I'd say disguise the plumbing pipes in my room with a little cabinet.
Such a lovely guest house with historic charm. There was a lovely family feel about the way Barbara & Steve ran the business which was great. Fantastic breakfast selection.

3 adults in a small room and en-suite Breakfast times suiting owners not guests Felt when past 8.30 time to move . Mistake made with breakfast which meant we were there past 8.30 . Started cleaning placemats at table beside us . Owner in and out felt it was time to get up even though was enjoying my cup of tea !!!

It's a tight, twisty entrance off of an A road to the carpark with a brick wall and steeply banked concrete either side of the car. Probably not a worry for smaller low cars - it was a bit of a worry for a larger SUV.
A good location near the town and close enough to main transport routes and railway station. Despite being on the main road, it was very quiet and peaceful.

Everything was lovely - no complaints
Hosts were lovely. Greeted us when we arrived and showed us where everything was. Room a good size & lovely & clean. There was bottled water in the room which was a nice touch. Breakfast was particularly good. Freshly made & a good choice. Very nice change from hotel buffet breakfasts! We will definitely be back

The separate toilet for the single room would benefit from a toilet roll holder rather than the present arrangement but the wonderfully friendly breakfast chat made up for that.

The only negative point would be the noise from the busy road in front of the house
I stopped here on my way from Dover to London by bicycle. Steve & Barbara took great care of everything. Bicycle storage was available, the room was very comfortable with all the amenities needed, and the breakfast in the morning was perfect to start the day off!

We loved the traditional nature of the Beaumont, the house is beautiful, the rooms were very clean and tidy, the bed was really comfortable. Barbara and Steve were the nicest of hosts, they were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast options were vast, the full English was fabulous. Would highly recommend the Beaumont.
