Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was a party with loud music until 11:30 pm. Room was thudding with noise and I had to go down to complain. The shower fitting in the bathroom broke and they were unable to replace it forcing us to have a shower in another room late in the evening

United KingdomUnfortunately the walls in the bedroom were very dirty as was the carpet. It looked like there had been an incident in there and someone had tried to patch paint the walls but it was dirty and there were scuff marks. It was quite off putting and the carpet was the same.

United KingdomRooms are showing their age with little details such as broken electric door locks, cobwebs windows and door frames, lining in the showers coming apart. Hot options for breakfast and coffees shouldn’t be charged when you are paying £250 per night!

United KingdomFood was quite poor and seemed ready made. My salad nicoise didn’t come with tuna unless I paid extra and I had to ask for a dressing. The *hearty veg soup was a tomato soup prob from a carton. Sweet but very young restaurant staff didn’t seem to know what to do and when there was a fire alarm said we should all leave then left first without checking clients had all gone! I blame poor manager wherever they were! The swimming pool was very shallow at one end so hard to swim easily.
Amazing location bang in the middle of very quiet moorland .forest. Very peaceful loads of ponies. Nice to have a swim too

United KingdomShower in the bath is potentially dangerous for older folk. We took our own non-slip mat and suction handle. Without them we would have found it very hard to take a shower.

United KingdomThe shower was hard to use as the hot/cold adjustment was stiff. I reported this when we left. Hotel rooms always seem too hot for us so I bring a sheet but it would be good if a flat sheet could be provided.

United KingdomThe pool was not available during our stay which was a real shame. We had been advised it was due to needing to balance the PH levels but found out it was open the morning of a wedding event which happened to be when we were checking out. The bathroom had a broken shower head and the cleanliness was ok. We weren't expecting a lot considering it was 3 star but there were a lot of dead insects dotted around the room and in the bathroom. Whilst the food was great, there did seem to be quite abit of confusion each time we had breakfast. We were told by the reception team we had continental breakfast only. Day 1 the restaurant told us we could have cooked at no extra cost. Day 2 we were advised we needing to pay for cooked breakfast and any coffees which we had to wait an extremely long time to be made. The inconsistency of advice became confusing and more than a little awkward when it came to checking out.
Lovely location with stunning views of the new forest wildlife and landscapes. Great parking and beer garden. Food was also delicious! Fabulous access to the nearby town of Lyndhurst and Beaulieu!

United KingdomShower had black mould around the bottom sealant, bath towel had z holes in it. Although rooms where supposed to have a fan in them none in our room. I do not believe it should have a 4 star rating, 3 would be more accurate.
Staff were excellent. Very helpful and friendly. Location was very good. The garden area was good and had a good atmosphere.

United KingdomRather disappointed to find that someone else's dinner had been added to our final bill. Luckily I thoroughly checked all the various items on the long list and noticed meals and wine that we definitely didn't order. The helpful receptionist printed out an itemised version of the bill so that we could verify with her what we actually did eat. The bill was then reduced by £100. But maybe we would not have noticed if we had been in more of a hurry. The flat screen wall mounted TV was really very small.
Great breakfast with good choice on the breakfast buffet as well as the cooked options. Our room was spacious and clean with a very comfortable bed. Lovely that there was a selection of dog treats and toy for our terrier. Lovely location surrounded by open moorland, so plenty of walking opportunities.

United KingdomImpersonal and corporate, with the exception of the young lady at breakfast with the black and white shirt who was always smiling and cheerful the rest of the staff in The Drift and at reception really need to smile a bit more. Engage with people, talk to them. Promote what is on offer, we discovered the bus stop outside for the open top bus tour when we were leaving.

The rooms were comfortable and fans provided. Towels were plush. The property was a lovely old mansion house and there were several comfortable indoor and outdoor spaces where you could enjoy the surroundings. The breakfast provided was very good, with the option of choosing a cooked meal and continental breakfast options were generous.

Friendly accommodating staff, comfortable room, better than we expected. Very good breakfast, plenty to choose from. The location was also great, half way between Beaulieu and Lyndhurst. Perfect for us and we will return at some point. Swimming pool small but we seemed to get it to ourselves every day, perfect.
