Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomLovely holiday accommodation in a super location. Communication with the host before and during our stay was excellent and helpful. Great views over the harbour and beyond. The house is comfortable and well-equipped - we appreciated the provision of some basic (and not so basic) food/drink items so the lack of a nearby shop wasn't an issue. Our four-night stay gave us plenty of time to visit places of interest nearby and enjoy some walks around the village. The local pub serves good food and decent real ale (you need to book!) and The Hive cafe's breakfasts are also excellent. Highly recommended.

United KingdomThere isn't much in the village, just a cafe and a pub, and a shop at the garage. Our back door looked onto a Club campervan/caravan site. But it did not affect us at all. No noise at all.
There was almost no noise after about 8pm. The house is right by the sea and, waking up, in the wonderfully comfy beds, everything is so quiet apart from the birds. The house is very well-furnished and very warm. The huge settee and matching armchair in beautiful blue leather is gorgeous and comfortable. We enjoyed watching Netflix. We cooked some meals in the very well appointed kitchen. There are three toilets, one shower and a bath (with shower over it, I think) so the three of us never got in each other's ways! We could walk to the attractive village in a few minutes where there is a great traditional pub which goes like a fair. Live music, too. It was easy to get to Whithorn and Wigton, with excellent shops , pubs and cafes.

United KingdomIt would have been good to have a towel rail or hooks to hang wet towels in the en-suite. Also a bedroom chair would have been good.

United KingdomThe nearest mid-sized supermarket was in Wigton, which was about 7 miles away, so it's probably a good idea to stock up on your groceries before arrival. On our day of departure, we had to be out by 10am, which was too soon as we did not want to leave at all.
The owner gave us a lovely friendly welcome and presented us with a much-needed welcome pack, that included bread, butter, milk and not forgetting the two bottles of prosecco. The two-storey apartment was modern and immaculate. It had three toilets, one on the ground floor, and two upstairs. The double bedroom had an en-suite bathroom with a great shower. The twin bedroom had a great sea view towards the harbour and easy access to the other bathroom with a bath/shower. The double room had a fantastic balcony looking towards the Garlieston waterfront, giving us beautiful sunset views. It was a very short walk of about 100m to the picturesque harbour and a lovely pebble beach, which is a quiet hidden gem. There is plenty to explore in the immediate area, including Galloway House/gardens and another lovely nearby beach (about 5 mins drive by car). We had a fantastic holiday and we will definitely be back.

United KingdomSome sort of water leak caused damp patches on lounge ceiling. No place to hang your towels after showering in en suite. Lack of blind on lounge window so when sun shone you had to close curtains to see tv and curtains draped over electric wall heater so a bit of a fire hazard. Small details but important to us.
Really comfy beds and quietness. A home from home. Great decor and neat and tidy layout. Friendly owners and a lovely touch with welcome pack.

CanadaThere was nothing to dislike about the property.
Excellent , comfortable house. Exceptionally clean and beautifully furnished in a lovely location. The property has three bathrooms, plenty of space and is well equipped. The location is stunning, overlooking the harbour. Michelle is an excellent host who responds quickly to any questions, she is very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend beachcomber, the best vacation rental I have ever stayed in.
