Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHusband is over 6ft tall and had to duck below beams and through doorways. Shower was a bit cramped. No direction to find Barn Suite at back of property hidden behind other buildings. Bed a bit soft for our tastes but that's personal preference. Beware the entrance at gate, scraped the bottom of the car on way out the first time.
Exposed wood beams, fully equipped kitchen, good location for travelling around with links to main road and eateries - definitely recommend the Royal Standard pub if eating locally. Easy parking. Proximity to shops for stocking kitchen, Waitrose and Morrisons daily within a few minutes drive. Directions provided to locate property were suitable, satnav didn't quite line up. Plenty of spare blankets and towels. Iron and hairdryer included.

United Kingdomi'm glad I arrived with some light - finding the entrance to the Barn wasn't immediately obviously and no sign posts so I wandered around in order to find it. I traded a modern hotel bathroom in order to have living space but the shower head hook was broken which was disappointing and both the kitchen and bathroom were in need of a refurb but they was adequate for this short stay and if you're not doing much cooking.
I booked this as I was working away for the week and I didn't want to spend evenings sitting on my bed watching telly. This accommodation provided a lovely sitting area where I could 'live' each evening which was great. The room was beautiful and full of character. The pathway and gardens looked as if they were lovely once but now rather neglected but that did mean we were treated to seeing a sparrowhawk eating a mouse on the patio table which was incredible. So if you like the country location and the feeling of it being a bit wild as we do- then this will be perfect for you.

United KingdomPatchy communication with the host who seems charming to be fair. The electric gate does not work. Had I not been there my wife wouldn’t be able to open it to get in. The kitchen is tired but functional. The garden I understand is being worked on all the time but the pond is a disgrace I worried for the fish.
This is a fabulous location in 3 acres of gorgeous garden. We had a beautiful converted barn which was warm and charming in most every way. Very hard to find somewhere like this. Muntjac Deer in the garden and barn owls hooting. Superb

United KingdomOutside the accommodation needed some work, broken paving slabs difficult to navigate due to mobility issues. Generally it was a little dated and outside needed a good tidy up. Could be fantastic with a bit of updating and care, and picking up the dog poo outside the room.

AustraliaCheck in was a bit stressful as I was given the wrong key pin. There was no one around to help, I was not able to phone as I was coming from outside of the UK and I had no internet or phone network. Until this day I have not received any official apology. The property was cold and smelling dump on arrival, it improved with time. There was no coffee.
I enjoyed the very peaceful and private location, tasteful decor and very comfortable bed.It was very cosy and warm, I had everything I needed available.

United KingdomQuiet, it was incredibly hard to find as the people who wrote down the instructions for how to get there had misspelt the Lane as NOAKES instead of NOAKS as it actually is on Google Maps. There was nobody there at any point during our stay the bed has collapse in the middle and you roll together and cannot get away all night. The handle to the fridge was incredibly grimy and had not been cleaned recently. The showerhead was broken and so had to get my husband to hold it for me while I showered.

United KingdomKey collection was a little difficult for several unforeseen reasons but the owner was so very helpful. This is a beautifully tranquil, pet friendly little haven with woodland just opposite. Surrounded by walks and good pubs. Incredibly tolerant of pets- I took two dogs ..I would definitely go back. Annemarie is delightful & so eager to please.
