The cleanliness could be better, but it's not bad at all. It's just not a very white-minimalist kind of building.

The owner was sooo helpful when I asked him about extending my stay. The place is also very near to the bus stop and there are a lot of option to eat around the area.

It was a very comfortable room which was very clean and relaxing. The staff were very helpful and the guest house was perfectly located in quiet surroundings. The centre of Edinburgh was only about 20-25 mins walk and 15 mins walk to Haymarket station.

We didn't stay at 34 Gilmore, but across the street and down about half a block at 55 Gilmore Street that is another set of boarding rooms The walls are paper thin, the front door slams, you hear people up and down the stairs all hours of the day and night. You hear them talking, laughing, arguing, and screaming in many different languages. The beds squeaked and popped every time you made the tiniest movement. There was a single wooden chair to sit in, as there was room for anything else. There was very little water pressure in the shower. The shower needs serious remodeling for health purposes. There is black mold growing along the bottom of the shower. It is starting up at least one side and is on the ceiling above the shower. They have attempted to cover this with caulking and paint. I contacted management about it and he said, "Thanks for contacting me". There appears to be no concern about this situation.

It was close to two bust stops. It had a full and single bed. There was a back door to a shared walled back yard that could be opened for ventilation. There was a nice fan to help move the air around. The room was clean. Hot water gets very hot. Kettle, tea, coffee sugar are all provided. There were real cups. There are a couple of local stores that also sell fresh sandwiches and the like. There are many different restaurants locally, mostly Indian, and one Italian that we found,, but there are a few others scattered in that are within walking distance,

This place was well suited for my family. I didn't have super high expectations but was pleasantly very happy with our stay here. It was quiet, comfortable, and had everything we needed. It's not right in the heart of the main sightseeing spots of Edinburgh but I love how well connected Edinburgh is by bus and a bus that quickly took us in to the heart of the city was available really often on the same road as the guest houses.

Read some dreadful reviews on here it made me concerned.....however,, We went & our quadruple room on the ground floor was great ! Exceptionally comfortable beds just lovely clean & cosy,, bathroom puld of been atad bigger yet satisfactory, great location for Edinburgh, we slept so well. I'd recommend, it did everything it says ....Close enough to walk to the sights , great location, you pay for what you get...some reviews were very mean ! Comfortable clean & staff friendly enough. Thanks x

Bed was sagging. Towel rack on back of bathroom door was at a dangerous height, and projected out from door, causing hitting of head several times. Towels were thin.

Good location and not too far to walk into the centre . Found a great little pub round the corner which had superb food, The Black Bird.

The facilities could do with an update. Toilet seat chipped, flusher loose, shower head adjuster broken. The shower did alternate from hot to cold (assuming this was other people using the showers or flushing toilet).

Comfortable bed and clean sheets. Easy walk to everywhere we wanted to go and good bus links. Excellent communication from the property owner.

Although there's always room for improvement with anywhere we can stay. I have zero complaints for this guesthouse.

I booked 2 rooms in this guesthouse and both rooms were perfect for what we were looking for. I loved the privacy and how quite it was. The location was perfect. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were clean. Rooms are ensuite and the shower was great.

A very cosy room, nice and bright. Quite close to the city centre, but situated at the side street, so it was quiet and peaceful, even during the Fringe. I would stay there again.

The window lock was broken, the only thing I would mention

Nice stay pretty central and very close to the city centre. The receptionist took us to a nearby room that was across the road but still very close to the main Guest House. Tiny room but clean and practical
