Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn’t like.
Loved the character of the accommodation and everything had been done to a very high standard, and everything had been thought of. The location was so peaceful and Beth was very welcoming. Especially loved the homemade fudge and would certainly stay again.

United KingdomNothing! If it was cheaper we would come regularly for our stargazing adventures.
There were so many thoughtful touches including some beautiful homemade shortbreads and cakes. We were well looked after and I will be returning with my partner. We even got lucky enough to see and stroke the gorgeous doggos just as we were leaving. This topped it all off and took the place from a 10/10 to an 11/10. I almost don't want to review so it's not fully booked when I come to book again!

AustraliaThe Badgers Den is a hidden gem. A peaceful spot away from the crowds, but close enough to sights, shops and restaurants. The studio was clean, comfortable, beautifully designed and decorated. It had everything you'd need in a self catering accommodation. And our hosts were just delightful. We'd definitely stay again thank you for hosting us!

United KingdomUnfortunately I couldn’t reach the glasses on the shelf, but there were enough mugs to drink out of. I think this is a mostly a me problem
Badgers Den has everything for an amazing stay. There was milk, coffee, teabags, sugar, crisps, chocolate biscuits and condiments. Very quiet location, typical countryside noises pheasants, horses and sheep. The bed and chairs were extremely comfortable. Everywhere inside and out was very clean. Attention to detail, there was nothing missing. Being short I loved the fact I could see my face in the mirrors - usually I can just see the top of my head.

United KingdomThere is only one thing I would change - I would put clear glass panes in the back door so you can see the view from inside.
Badgers Den is beautifully appointed and very comfortable. It has an upstairs deck overlooking horses in paddocks and sheep in pastures.

Easy to find. Lovely welcome from the owners. Great location. Quiet but central to everything. Comfortable bed. Well equipped kitchen. Nice bathroom. Great use of space, layout well thought out. Very clean. We used the apartment as a base for exploring Dunfermline, Stirling, Falkirk, Dollar, and much more - it was a fantastic choice.

United KingdomShame we didn’t see any wildlife!
Badger’s Den was equipped with everything we could possibly need to make our stay very comfortable. It was warm and cozy despite the weather which meant that some of our sightseeing opportunities were limited. However, it was good to come ‘home’ to our quiet retreat.

New ZealandNothing negative to be said. A wonderful experience
Great rural property within 30 minutes simple train commute into Waverley station Edinburgh. Good parking for car at station . Beautiful property. Surrounded by paddocks with horses and sheep for company. Very warm welcome with beautiful fresh scones and jam. Well prepared accomodation with a large comfortable double bed and beautiful linen. All required household appliances and well equipped for a short or longer stay. We would highly recommend this as a venue close to Edinburgh enabling simple day trips. Also close to Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies

We do really appreciated the quiet place close to Linlithgow which we found to a nice city. We liked to be on our own. For the first time during our travel through Scotland, we were able to sleep until late morning in the dark due to roller blind which were much appreciated because in June sun rise at 4.30am, so we do too in previous places, but here it was perfect. Moreover, the bed was very confortable and large, we liked very much. The Edimbourg airport was 20 minutes drive from there. We recommand this nice place, thank you very much for the warm welcome.

We loved our stay here, and would have loved to stay on. Modern, exceptionally well designed, practical and comfortable, and then with a view from the balcony over fields towards woodland. Well placed, but feeling absolutely remote. It was well stocked, and the additional little treats were delicious. We knew nothing about Linlithgow, but were fascinated by its history, and spent an interesting morning exploring the Palace.

United KingdomThey were an absolute delight, no negatives.
They were unbelievably friendly, took an interest in why we were staying there, offered so much information in regards (we were seeing Taylor swift) to travel and finding the accommodation afterwards. They even made us apple scones in the morning!!! It completely made our trip to feel safe and secure in such a beautiful place. I can't brag enough that this is one of the best places I've stayed in Scotland.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing. Everything was first class.
Badgers Den is absolutely beautiful. A hidden wee treasure surrounded by fields and woods with pheasants saying hello. The apartment is very well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The owners John and Beth have thought of everything. Modern design with USB sockets for charging your phones, etc. Useful socket behind the TV if you wanted to bring your own Firestick and just chill (depending on the unpredictable Scottish weather). Excellent WiFi signal too. The kitchen has everything a kitchen at home would have. Dishwasher, washing machine, air fryer, coffee machine, etc with useful instruction manuals all in a folder. There's plenty of glasses, cutlery, pots, storage containers, etc. The milk, homemade chocolate orange cookies, crisps and biscuits were a lovely personal touch. Given that it's a conversion above a double garage, you feel totally secluded and private. Stunning views over acres of fields. John and Beth are super friendly and helpful and even left us a lovely Easter egg on our departure day. We love this place so much so have booked to go back later in the year.

United KingdomHaving to leave ♥️
Everything about the den was fabulous. Sitting in the grounds of the family home and BnB, the setting was beautiful. Beth & Jonh were exceptionally welcoming. I didn't want for anything. The den was fully equipped in the kitchen, bathroom, sleeping and living area. The whole place was spotless and faultless. The lovely little touches from Beth with her scrumptious baking. Meeting the dogs was lovely. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the fields was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. It was far enough away but near enough to places of interest. I certainly didn't want to leave. I will definitely be back. Thank you Beth and John, my stay was just perfect ♥️
