Denis and Anita were so kind and easy to talk to — I really enjoyed spending time with them. Breakfast was amazing, with a granola and fruit buffet and a beautifully prepared breakfast plate. I couldn’t have asked for more. The room was cozy and charmingly decorated. I loved the view from the room — it was absolutely beautiful. The shower room felt brand new and had a modern, stylish design.

Location fantastic for all activities. Host was very friendly and had great suggestions for things to do and restaurants. Accommodation was extremely clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely with great choices and able to make provision for a Celiac which was much appreciated.

Great location being close to the centre of Windermere and also easy access to some scenic walks close by to the summit at Orrest Head and also to lake Windermere. Guest house had lots of charm and felt very homely. Our room had lovely views and was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was very modern with a big walk in rain shower. The owners, Anita and Denis, were very welcoming and lovely people. We mentioned it was our wedding anniversary and when we returned to our room that night they had left us a lovely surprise gift from them both, what a lovely touch from them. Excellent breakfast, lots of choice …. freshly cooked and great service. So much to like about our stay that we will definitely be returning

Anita and Denis were fantastic hosts and made us feel very welcome as soon as we arrived, and throughout our stay. The room was very clean and well presented and we had a lovely view of lake Windermere from our window. We got a delicious slide of banana cake when we arrived which was a nice touch! The breakfast was also wonderful. We had the Caribbean breakfast both mornings because it was so good! It was fantastic value for money and would highly recommend staying at Archway guest house if you're planning a trip to the Lake District.

Sound insulation wasn't that good. But I guess there isn't much one can do to an old house like this.

The host was very nice and friendly. She provided amazing recommendation on the local restaurants and attractions. Breakfast was very delicious and freshly homemade on the day. I would recommend trying the Caribbean breakfast, which can't be found anywhere else in the region. I would also definitely consider staying here for my next visit to Windermere.

Wonderful guesthouse with everything you could possibly want for a special time in the Lake District! I had an amazing time. The room is spacious, super comfortable and light-filled with a gorgeous view of the mountains and lake Windermere! A highlight for me was the bathroom and luxurious tub which was perfect for soaking in after a big day hiking. The location is great - I visited several towns in the area and liked Windermere the best - it is cute and relaxed with easy access to lovely walks and the lake. Anita and Denis were fantastic hosts - they accommodated my dietary needs at late notice, serving up three delicious breakfasts which fuelled my Lakes adventures each day. They are also just super lovely people who make you feel at home! I would stay again in a heartbeat! Thanks Anita and Denis :-)

Such a fabulous place .Amazing location .Anita and her family are so welcoming ,helpful and so friendly .All the little extra touches are lovely .Including birthday banners ,balloons treats for my husbands 50th .Delicious chocolate Easter bunnies 🐰 on our breakfast table .Breakfast is absolutely delicious and such lovely choices .Fresh fruit cereals yoghurt’s cooked omelettes even salt fish 🐠 etc etc .Truly yummy .Our room was so cosy with beautiful views .The bath beautiful looking at the sky .We’ve loved it .

Very convenient location - we only need to walk for 7 minutes from the railway station. The hosts - Anita and Denis - are very kind and thanks for their hospitality during our stay. The breakfast is made by themselves and is lovely.

The hotel was a short walk from Windermere station, and we arrived soon. Anita and Denis warmly welcomed us and invited us to taste banana cake. The view of the room is also amazing! I like it here very muchThe transportation here is very convenient, and we found it very easy to know the way when we first came here. The scenery of the lake is really too beautiful, must take a boat tour, there is a feeling of traveling in the oil painting

Very lucky to park our car outside the property in the street (felt very safe) but parking close might've been difficult otherwise. Must pre-order breakfast the night before, which whilst I understand, would've preferred to decide in the morning.

The cooked breakfast was good with a several choices together with fruit, cereal & yogurt. Quiet location with a lovely view and a short walk to the town or a lovely 25 min woodland walk to Bowness. Thank you Anita for recommending the museum on the lake for a walk & lunch. Well thought-out bedroom & fabulous en-suite bathroom = a very pleasant stay. Oh and home made cake when we arrived was unexpected and delicious!

There was nothing wrong, only that our stay was too short.

Great location - a quite guesthouse conveniently located within quick walking distance of the train station. There are plenty of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants within walking distance too. There are good transport options and we were able to catch a cheap bus to Grasmere nearby. The hosts were very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable - they gave us great recommendations for where to go, what to do and where to get the bus from, there was a book of recommendations for the local area in the room, and there were plenty of maps and leaflets advertising what to do in the area - including bus timetables. The room was clean and well appointed with a nice big fan for the warmer days and refreshments available in the room. Would definitely recommend for a short romantic stay for couples.
