How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

For overseas travellers like me, clearer directions for the plumbing would be good. It was difficult for me to work out how the shower and bath taps worked. First morning I couldn't turn the hot tap off. Third morning I couldn't turn the cold tap off. No lift. I only brought essentials from the car up the 2 floors to my room. It's in need of some renovating. A shame they don't do dinners.
Staff were friendly and helpful. There was plenty of parking available.

Didn’t find anything really only the decor in the rooms is a little tired and dated but for the price can’t complain.
Our room was at the back of the hotel away from the busy main road. Although the main car park is at the front so probably wouldn’t have heard anything even if our room was at the front. We really enjoyed our cooked breakfast. Plenty of choice and very good quality. Sausage, Bacon and black pudding all delicious. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful.

Very hot in the room. It would be nice and cosy in the winter, but summer it was to uncomfortable to sleep.

No evening meal facilities.
The room was a good size, clean and comfortable. Although on the main road there was very little traffic noise as the hotel is well set back. The reception was friendly and provided good information. Plenty of parking. A relaxed self service breakfast service.

We prefer a hot freshly cooked breakfast. The buffet breakfast was good with plenty of choice but it could have been hotter

I didn't find anything I disliked
I liked the way I was offered help with my luggage and so warmly greeted when I arrived. Also noted how I was acknowledged every time I left and returned. The breakfast was enjoyable, and the restaurant was not overcrowded.

Could have had refresh of tea/coffee and toilet rolls as we stayed 2 nights noone cleaned the room or refresh as stated above also the tv took a while to switch chanel need more disabled bays, some areas throughout need a refresh of decoration
Breakfast was OK I would have liked to see more variation of a hot drink on offer and a wider range of fruit

Long way up and down stairs to get to rooms, no lifts. Our TV aerial didn't work, so missed what TV programme we wanted. Basin plug perished, so let water out of wash basin. Bed not comfortable, mattress tired. Decor also tired, & waiting for tlc. Hook on back of bathroom door, was out of reach so no use for hanging anything on.
Good sized room. Car parking, and everywhere was clean. Mirror in room and bathroom a plus as was a bin in both rooms.

I didn't enjoy the multiple parties on both nights of my stay. The finished at a respectable time and I was mostly ok with it, especially after being informed of it taling place. Returning to my room early just meant I needed to endure the parties and stay up late regardless.
I enjoyed the convenience of it being so close to my weekends activities. I enjoy a form mattress so this was great also!

Felt the hotel was a bit dated. Some fittings and parts of the room could do with an upgrade
Good prices, good access to local amenities, staff were polite and friendly. Hotel itself was clean and comfortable.
