How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Host Elizabeth was exceptionally welcoming and helpful with extra tea bags etc. Milk in a glass bottle in the fridge was a lovely touch. Location with the no 3 bus to town centre passed the door was perfect.

Elizabeth was very helpful; she went out of her way to set up the iron board that we used for formal attires for the wedding event. She made us feel so welcome and we appreciate it.

Nothing we were very comfortable and happy.
We liked the location and wonderful host. The bus stop was almost outside the house and went to the station and city centre regularly. The use of the microwave was appreciated. We asked for bowls and cutlery and that was supplied straight away. The tea and coffee supplied was of a high quality too. Thanks for a lovely few days.

The only thing I could recommend would be a coat hook near the door, only because we had heavy rain, normally you could hang in wardrobe.
Easy check in, lovely friendly hosts, large clean room with ensuite. Fridge in room, good hanging space in wardrobe. Comfortable bed, chairs to sit near window. Near to local shops and a pub. We didn't use but very close to bus stops.

The room was a bit smaller than I expected.
The location is good not too far from the train station. The price was reasonable and the place is clean.

The Wi-Fi could be improved. It was unreliable.
I loved the room. It was very comfortable and had everything I needed for a 2-day stay at Cambridge. It was easy to get around, and the hostess was super friendly and accommodating.

There was a bit of traffic noise,which I'm sure is not a problem in winter, but we had the window open so it was unavoidable to hear cars from the main road outside. Having said all that, a fan was provided but we preferred not to use the fan so others may not have an issue if they keep the window closed. This was really the only minor downside of our stay.
There was a lot to like! Great location in terms of proximity to Cambridge and ease of catching a bus, really close to the bus stop and it's very convenient to leave the car. Elizabeth was also very accommodating about leaving our car for a short while after check out on the morning we left. The room has a fridge, tea and coffee facilities and fresh milk all provided. Everything we needed was there and the room was spotlessly clean and bedding and towels were freshly laundered. Thanks for a comfortable stay.

I like how Elizabeth attended to our needs daily- replacing our coffee, cleaning our cups and saucers, emptying the trash, etc.

Room was pretty small for large bags. Guest house on fairly busy road. You could hear road noise at night if you had the skylight windows open. (Couldn't hear road if skylight windows were shut but nights were unseasonably warm so needed the fresh air). If you wanted to walk into town it was a fairly long, uninteresting walk.
Room and bathroom were very clean, bed was comfy, shower was hot. Fridge in room very useful. Microwave available for use in foyer downstairs. Bus stop for bus into city centre just across the road.

The room was so neat and clean ! I had fresh new towels every day; there is soap, a hairdryer , the fridge and all you need to have some hot beverages and breakfast . The lady who runs the house is lovely, always kind and available, she offered me biscuits when I came in! If you are looking for a nice and clean room to stay with a limited budget this is the place to stay . :)) *It is very close to the hospital , for those working there .
