    Restaurant and food

Breakfast was not acceptable, we booked seven nights b and b and only entered dining room for initial breakfast. Food Luke warm, not replenished when running low and restaurant hours very limited. We ate out after our first experience

Able to hear out in the hall very clearly from our room and as a result disturbed sleep with guests coming and going throughout the night.

Easy to find, central for what we needed to be away for and well priced. Beds comfortable room a good size, bathroom clean, TV had choice of channels.

Potholes on the drive up to hotel need to be repaired

We were using it for car parking and overnight stays to reach Prestwick Airport so it was great for that. Staff helpful especially Robert on reception

Could do with two pillows on the bed each. Saves me rolling up a jumper! Drive way has huge pot holes to parking, probably through coaches being parked there as well.

Lovely location . Accommodation was what I expected, catered for our needs either and our dogs.

It felt like an asylum. The dining hall gave the impression of an unfamiliarity/informal dining where people go but never leave. It didn't feel like a hotel restaurant, it felt like a hospital dining area.

On arrival the property looked imposing

Cleanliness in main areas is below standard. The elevator was shockingly filthy, not been cleaned in months at least, which is a shame as I saw staff coming in and out of it daily. They undoubtedly must see it's totally unacceptable ( unless they are not motivated which I think is probable)Cigarettes butts in beer garden and outdoor areas not been swepped in weeks. Rooms are definitely value for money, but for a bit more care and attention, I would gladly pay more. Would I stay here again, for the cost, definitely YES. Lots of good points in this hotel, and I would 100% book again. But I'm also frustrated as this beautiful building, grounds etc could be so much more with better standards being implemented and I dare say, better staff training. The staff were all great I have to say, but in my opinion, and overwhelming sense of not fully enjoying working there.

Great location for a quiet retreat, but still close enough to towns. Beautiful grounds and main building. My room has quality carpet, high quality woven tartan curtains which were blackout. Really good sized TV. Coffee making facilities

Good job I wasn't too hungry - no food served after 8pm; or didn't need a shower - it didn't work.

No food was served after 8pm which is really below standard for a hotel - not even a sandwich! All there was a packet of crisps and a kitkat The bedhead in my room was badly stained and the sheets were too small for the mattresses so the mattress was exposed. I had asked for a double bed and got two singles. The shower was unusable - it went from extremely hot to cool and didn't 'settle' so I didn't shower because I was worried I would get burnt. There was a used tissue on the stairs. The radiators were on full in the stairwell and in my bedroom during the hottest weather we have seen all summer.

It was in a very convenient location and the grounds were lovely. It felt lively, there were lots of people staying which gave the place a nice atmosphere. The bar staff were friendly.

Twin room was fine But the family room felt strange - no tea or coffee facility in either, family room bathroom was tired and dated and not what would expect. Perhaps this area of the hotel hadn’t had a refirb yet ? Also we had two rooms booked which were literally opposite end to each other and different floors. WiFi was terrible

The bed wasn't that comfortable,no bedside table between the twin..this was across the other side of the room. A screw was embedded in the bathroom floor to act as a door wedge. No bath mat for stepping out onto the floor so I used the hand towel. No shampoo or shower gel(they do provide a mini soap however) I've been accustomed to seeing in any hotel I've stayed at for the equal price of a room so ensure you take some with you..nor a biscuit on the tray either. One pillow only each,an extra may have been available from reception if requested but I didn't. Low pressure water for filling a bath on the 1st floor, took an age, good shower though.

Stayed the night here because it was a good stop gap for an appt we had the next day. Nice grounds and ok view from room. Room was clean, bed not great at all..the base was off the floor but must be good for housekeeping purposes I get that though mattress wasn't comfy at all. Good sized towels available,a face cloth would've been good.. Nice cosy bar and very inexpensive which was good.

On arrival we were given 3 rooms. Long story short my room had no heating. I went to reception to ask for help to be told that all the heating was turned off in the hotel for summer. I knew this was not true as my other family members had heat. He then told me it turned off after 9pm. I also knew this was not true. He then said there was no maintenance person and the hotel was full. I asked what was I to do so he did manage to find me another room. He told me to go quickly and check it and get moved as quickly as possible. No mention of an apology. The TV in one of our rooms didnt work and to be honest the hotel is very basic. I booked this on a business basis and the rooms didn't have a desk where I could use my lap top. I wouldn't return.

Burn marks from previous stays on the floor. Someone who has seen the picture said it could be from drug use. Added that photo. Beds were uncomfortable, patches of paint not finished and small rooms. But as stated it was three times.cheaper in the summer hols. You get what you pay for. It is a shame, beautiful building and grounds. Could be a luxury hotel if money was spent.

Breakfast area is very poor. Tables full of dirty dishes. Nowhere clean to sit. Coffee tea machine only did one coffee type and couldn't get a cup of tea at all. Toaster very slow and too many people waiting so just ate bread untoasted. Very disappointed.

Location is lovely and room was clean.
