Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

I loved how clean it was and how there was everything I could possibly need in the one room.
Warm friendly welcome from the hosts. I felt completely at ease straight away. I loved how they made me feel so welcome straight away and helped me with a taxi as I was visiting Windermere for a wedding up the road in broad oaks county house. I loved how warm the welcome was and how they opened their door to their own room downstairs and always had time to chat!

The room was smaller than I expected, but still very nice and for being alone it was more than suitable.
Very nice hosts, lovely room and shower, great location right near the village and the train.

Everything was perfect. Shame it's not possible to reserve a parking space in advance, but we managed to find a parking spot very close to the house.
The guest house is less than 5 mins walk from the high street and about 25 mins walk to Bowness Pier. Amazing Hosts, clean & spacious room.

Only issue was all the stairs to the top room

It was all lovely.
Lovely house with patio garden. Very warm welcome. On street parking outside. Large beautifully decorated bedroom with a quality ensuite. Little extra touches like a tea pot and wine glasses. Large very comfy bed and bath sheets.

The location and the property itself were really good. It was very satisfying going back to a fresh and clean room after a day full of walk. They do clean and arranged the room everyday. Their smart tv has Netflix so you could actually just stay in the room and relax.

It was located at the heart of the town, super clean and comfy with super great excess to market and restaurants. Host was very kind and helpful. She helped us finding another room in a nearby hotel as well because we were in need of multiple rooms and ABACUS House was at full capacity. Would highly recommend it.

The cost of the hotel was abit expensive but other hotels in the area were expensive too.
The hotel was very clean, comfortable and felt safe. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. It was near to some cafes/shops and the places I needed yo get too.

The neighbourhood does get really dark at night but our hosts always leave the lights inside the house on so it felt safer. The room could get a bit cold too and we did struggle turning on the heater, but that's such a minor thing we didn't really mind it!!
Our hosts were really accommodating and the room is decent size, clean, comfy and has literally everything (cold water and glasses, leaflets of things to do in lake district, etc.), they also let us drop off our bags after the check-out so that saved us a lot of hassle. We had a great time and feel welcoming and taken care of! The location is also perfect only 8-10 mins away
