How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The bathtub was kinda high tho, if you a granny take care of the steps, yall might fall. Pd: as an lactose intolerant girlie, i would love to see milk alternatives, like almond or oat for my morning coffee. 😊☕️
Everything, the location, the spacious room, the cute balcony looking over the main street with the best gaufres. Being just one street away from the beautiful beach!

Nothing to dislike
The hotel is charming reflecting the warm hospitality of the hosts. It is in the heart of the lovely town. We slept so well in the comfortable bed. We enjoyed our stay here even more than other nice hotels on our trip which were twice the price. Will come back.

The hotel is ideally situated for us in the principal road in Houlgate and close to the restaurants and the sea. The town itself exudes period charm and relaxation complimented by the hotel hosts who go out of their way to ensure that guests feel most welcome and comfortable in their accommodation.

You do have to look for parking.

Nothing of any substance but if I had to mention something I would say that a second chair serving the small table on the outside balcony area would be appreciated
The Patrons were very welcoming and informative. The room we had at the rear of the main property and part of an annex was very quiet . The hotel fronted the narrow Main Street of the town and was very conveniently situated for shops and restaurants as well as the beach and its pleasant promenade. Houlgate is a lovely small town with a plethora of grand older period buildings . The town exudes calm and charm and is comparatively free from the hustle and bustle commonly associated with what I would term more commercially orientated seaside enterprises.

The host was extremely helpful. We were able to get a kettle in our room on request. The location was excellent, in the center of the town and only a few minutes walk to the beach. Although there was no parking on site it was nearby and free.

The hosts were welcoming and excellent and the hotel was perfectly situated in the centre of town and adjacent to good restaurants. Clean, very comfortable beds and delicious pastries and coffee for breakfast.

We don’t like doonas. So we asked for a blanket & this was changed straight away. There was nothing else.
Everything about this hotel was absolutely wonderful. The two owners went over & above helping us in every possible way. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Although not having breakfast, have based evaluation on rest of visit. Immediately on arrival we were impressed by the greeting - so genuine, helpful and welcoming from Monsieur, followed by Madame. The entrance and bar area also welcoming. Our room was immaculate, cosy and comfortable. Slightly surprised there were no tea/coffee making facilities and minibar empty. Would certainly revisit. Recommended.

My wife forget 2 blousons and I send a double e mail but we never got any reply back ? I wonder if they have it and that it can be send to us. I suppose when the cleaning lady finds it they send us an e mail .

I expected some more facilities in a 3 star hotel. No water kettle, no airconditioning. The room was not in the main building and was a bit claustrophobic due to a very tiny window. The breakfast was very good but the price including breakfast is a bit expensive compared to other 3 star hotels.
Friendly and helpful staff, perfect location in the centre of Houlgate, free parking around, clean room, two pillows, good bed, neat bathroom, good breakfast (not included).
