Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCommunication was challenging - thank goodness for Google Translate - There was a rather dank smell around the place old furnishings - although we had booked breakfast we did not bother as it was more like a hostle for students of walkers and just a help yourself communal arrangement - not my thing at all - No bar - so you have to bring in your own refreshments - no fridge in rooms no iron on hand we were there for a 3 day wedding elsewhere so wasn't great - all in all this is a walkers stop over - it's only saving grace is that it is central to the small town where the locals are very friendly albeit we struggled with communication, BUT WE AND THEY all tried to get by and overall we had a fun time in the town.
The location of the Lodge is excellent - There are a few bar/cafe's bakery and Pizza restaurant all within easy walk. Parking was easy and overall on the surface the lodge was ideal. However it came with no thrills.

United StatesNot geared for pilgrims or walkers on the chemin, more for tourists. No one to greet us. There was a sign on the door that if no one was present, call a particular number or go to the restaurant which was a block away. Another pilgrim couple and I walked to the restaurant, after having already walked a stage in the chemin and waited in a bar for check in to be available, but no one answered. We walked back to the hotel and tried again, but still no one present. Unfortunately since we were all from overseas, we didn't have a functioning phone to call the number in France. Finally, another pilgrim arrived who was able to contact the number. The woman who answered arrived a few minutes later, greeted us, showed us our rooms and gave me a brief tour of the breakfast area but then she had to leave as she explained she was managing other properties. Another pilgrim who had inquired about dinner when making room reservation was told that a reservation to the restaurant, which had the same owner as the hotel, would be made for her and that it would be 20e. I joined this pilgrim for dinner as did the other pilgrims staying at the hotel. Dinner ended up being 28e (without drinks). A woman who didn't eat dessert because she didn't eat lactose products was charged the same price. My order was misunderstood even when the French woman I was with had explained that I don't eat poultry at the time of the order, so my dinner had to be sent back. I had to wait for my correct dinner while everyone else had finished. The cook/owner(?) did apologize, but others noted how she was colder to us after the confusion. I had stayed in a variety of accommodations including other hotels while doing the chemin as I prefer private rooms with private bathrooms, but with dinner, this ended up being the second most expensive place I stayed in during my 32 night stay in France.
Central location in village; large, comfortable and nicely decorated room; great shower; good generous size breakfast.

KazakhstanIt was a very large, comfy bedroom. In fact we were the only ones in the hotel. I saw a staff member for no longer than 2 mins … otherwise on our own. Quirky decor-, Chinese, British and American Knick-knacks, taxidermy animals and lots of pictures on the wall…. made me feel like Basil Fawlty would walk in the room any moment. A pleasant stay though the town of Montreal de Gers was abandoned…. No restaurant or service of any kind. We ate microwaved food from a convenience store.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Victorian Lodge in Montréal. The guesthouse is peaceful, beautifully decorated, and perfectly located in the heart of the village. The room was spacious and elegant, with every comfort thoughtfully provided. Edith, the owner, was absolutely delightful – she helped us with every request we had, always with warmth and generosity. She is also the chef at the restaurant next door, where we enjoyed one of the best meals of our entire pilgrimage. The next morning, the kitchen was left at our disposal and she had prepared the most delicious breakfast for us. We felt truly welcomed and cared for. Thank you!

FranceIt is set up for walkers on the camino - if I'd spent a bit more time in the reviews section I'd maybe have realised this - so, despite being clean, the accomodation is basic, rather quirky and slightly tired. I was surprised that there was no regular on-site presence from the proprietor - if there were I'd have offered the following feedback face-to-face regarding room #5: bed not very comfortable and really short in length; Air conditioning tempermental; WiFi signal not sufficiently strong to reach bedroom.
Great location right in the centre of Montreal, which is in itself lovely, timeless and unspoilt. There's no dedicated parking but on-street parking is freely available. There a couple of snack bars, a restaurant, a convenience store, a bank if you need some cash. On a Friday night in mid-summer - it was very lively! Whilst there's no proprietor on-site to welcome you, or deal with any problems you might have, another lady was occasionally around doing cleaning and setting up the breakfast - she was pleasant.

United KingdomThis is not a criticism more like friendly information for visitors……. This lovely hotel is a stop-over for pilgrims and therefore, because they always only stay one night and are up early the next day for the rest of the pilgrimage, breakfast is 0700-0730 (although you can come down at 0800 and still have breakfast we sometimes found that the pilgrims helped themselves to a lot of breakfast using it as lunch for the journey! 🥺
Breakfast was continental but amazing! Staff are even more amazing! The rooms are large and comfortable with aircon and bathrooms are large and spotlessly clean. Great location next to the square where the small cafe’ serves great snacks, paninis etc. and lovely cold beer! Ohhhh and wine or a fruit based drink for the ladies 🤣🤣🤣

It was so lovely to use the hotel early. We had been walking the Chemin and start our days early due to a severe heat wave and we were so tired and weary when we arrived at 10:45. We were welcomed with ice water, early access to the room with showers and aircon. Spacious room with lots of room to wash and dry our clothes. Amazing host!

United KingdomOn booking the property I believed that it had a restaurant as there were pictures of food on the site. However when we got there you would have to go to a restaurant in the square. Now this r we oils not be so bad but it did not open on a Monday and this should have been related to us visiting booking . Com. It let it down greatly as it is deceitful to let people think they would get some decent French food when we ended up with food I could easily get at home.
The charm of the age of the home and how big and grand it was
