Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe thought the hotel staff were lovely and welcoming. The breakfast was simple but adequate, and the breakfast room was charming (I have never said that before about a hotel breakfast room). The room itself was quite small, and air conditioning might have been nice, but we coped with a fan. The staff said they're trying to get air conditioning in place. All in all, good value for the money.

United StatesNo air conditioning during a heat wave. The staff were very nice, setting up fans everywhere. Again, like the 19th century.
The location is excellent. We had a room with a small bal ont looking over the street. Like living in the 19th century.

AustraliaAir conditioning might have made my sleep better but otherwise couldn’t fault it loved our stay, friendly helpful staff too.
I really loved location and the feel of the old building that houses the hotel rooms. The hotel is on the second floor serviced by stairs or a small lift. It was quite hot when we stayed and there’s no air-conditioning but they do provide a fan. The breakfast looked very nice in their breakfast come sitting room but we love going out and getting a coffee and pastry so we didn’t take it up. There’s a bakery just to the left of the hotel.

AustraliaNo Aircon in the rooms which I regret not checking first as I stayed in Summer. Window open and fan on made it bearable - just. It did appear however to have heating for winter.
A good budget hotel for a short stay - decent location to explore Lyon! The hotel is quite dated and the room was small but clean and comfortable bed. & clean, modern bathroom. You get what you pay for - nothing fancy but does the job for a short visit. Staff communication was very good and helpful due to late check-in. I didn't include breakfast but there was a small dining room with a nice view to relax and have some down time. A handful of boulangerie's close by for breakfast. And Some good food options a short 5-10min walk away around Place Bellecour. Also the train station is there. Then another 5-10min walk is the main shopping/dining strip along Rue De La Republique. Train is just a few stops from Vieux Lyon (Old Town).

United KingdomDuring a heat wave, the fan struggled, so sleeping was rather uncomfortable hence 9/10. They plan to add a/c in 2026 which will make it 10/10.
The wonderful decor, the friendly welcoming staff, very comfortable bed, great location, coffee/kettle in bedroom. It was absolutely charming and I'd absolutely return.

FranceThe hotel itself is great, just to repeat what I said in the general review for people to be aware of: I will just say that Lyon is HOT in the summer and we were there in a beginning of July extra heatwave, there is no aircon. I'm not a fan of aircon, but it's something to think about when it's 37° outside. There is fan, but it's not really enough in those temperatures.
The room was on the street but it is high enough up ( the whole hotel is on the 2nd floor) that it's not so noisy and they are two sets of windows to help. The room has been obviously rejigged at some point to allow for a bathroom and I was pleasantly surprised at how well this was done and the good design. Everything scrupulously clean. I will just say that Lyon is HOT in the summer and we were there in a beginning-of-July-extra-heatwave, there is no aircon. I'm not a fan of aircon, but it's something to think about when it's 37° outside. there is fan, but it's not really enough in those temperatures.
