How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe place is at a beautiful location in a wonderful old mansion. The breakfast was very good and the bed was comfortable. There is also a very nice room where one can play Billiard, chess and other board and social games
The receptionist! We arrived with our bicycles and he said: I was just about to send you a WhatsApp message. Unfortunately the restaurant is fully booked out and we can't serve you any dinner. The hotel is about two km uphill from the center of Goumois which is not so little considering that we have cycled about 70 km that day. We asked if they could serve us some food in the lobby, but he refused. And hey, this is supposed to be a ****Hotel, what about room service?! He offered us an umbrella to walk down to the village, that was kind of cynical! So we had to ride down to the village and of course, we got soaked by a shower on our way back! Next day, after I paid the biss, I said "au revoire", but the arrogant guy didn't reply and went straight to the next customer. The whole place is a bit aged and is slightly tatty. We can imagine that it is difficult to maintain such a big old building. Old carpets in the room and a bit outdated furniture wouldn't really matter, if the guy at the reception (who was also managing the breakfast and lots of other things) would work professionally and make you feel welcome. Well, this guy didn't and we were overall disappointed with our stay in this place.

Verified reviewGreat location, spacious rooms great food. Good safe place to store our bikes. Nice rural setting with the sound of cow bells in the joining field.
It would not be good for people travelling on a budget.

Verified reviewA secluded and idyllic spot perfect for a short getaway to relax and recharge but the absolute best thing about our stay was the staff! We stayed for almost a week and every one of them was friendly, helpful and professional. We felt very well taken care of.
No complaints.

Verified reviewI stayed here on a roadtrip with friends in 2018 and wanted to return, bringing my wife, to share the stunning location and sensational signature dish fricasee of morel mushrooms. Those expectations were fully met, the food is still superb, but expensive. The hotel still feels like the very traditional family owned place one might find in a 1950s film.
The room decor and furnishings are quite tired now and in need of updating. The lack of a kettle/hot drinks in the room, and lack of any morning room service was a real disappointment - we English need our morning cup of tea! Our total bill for DB&B came to over €400 so good it’s difficult to value for money, despite the stunning location and superb food.

Verified reviewThe hotel is overlooking the valley of the Doubs, the view and the location is nice. The house is clean and there is space in the lobby if you want to spend time out of the room. The hotel has a nice terrasse and my room had a nice big balcony, unfortunately I could not enjoy those places as the wheather was too cold. The bed was comfortable.
The room was disappointing, would rate it with 2* maximum, the carpet very shabby, the curtains a bit less shabby, the style of the furniture obsolete, dating back a couple of decades, missing any charm. Unfortunately the restaurant had a closing day, so I could not have dinner in house, which is a shame, as this would maybe have upgraded my stay a lot? If this kitchen is really as good as its rewievs, then I don't understand why the hard eggs at the breakfast buffet were overcoocked, not fresh looking and cold of the fridgidaire. The SPA facilities obviously cost extra, but I don't even know if it would have been possible to book them, I have not been introduced in this point at arrival. As I spended only one night and had to go out for dinner, I was glad not to spend to much time in this place. It was just about to have a bed. There is some traffic to hear from the road under the hotel, especially arround the times when people are driving to work or coming back home.
