Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo mini fridge in room to store our cold drinks. Coffee at breakfast is only via a machine, so lacks quality and taste (sadly the case for many French hotels these days). Air con in both our rooms was almost pointless. Shower fittings were broken so awkward to try and shower. Rooms feel like they need some TLC. Breakfast at 16 euros was overpriced given poor coffee and minimal spread. As daughter said "they put all their energy into the restaurant".
Very friendly professional staff. Great secure parking in locked garage nearby (1 minute walk). Totally awesome evening meal - we hoped to eat elsewhere but pretty much whole town was booked up so ended back at hotel for dinner and had a great experience. Great location near centre.

ItalyThe room was quite small, as to be expected for a city hotel. However, it could have been furbished more comfortably. For instance, instead of a closet, there was just a slim shelf, which may do for a day or two, but not for a full-week stay. The shower was leaking and inundated the small bathroom each time we used it.
The hotel is charming and quite centrally located, and the nearby parking that could be booked was very handy. The breakfast was rich and included a wide choice of sweet and savoury options. Staff was helpful and friendly.

FranceWe came in the summer so the staff seemed to be new and untrained. Probably because they were seasonnal staff helping out for the holiday. I had high expectations since the staff was so highly rated and was a bit disappointed - for instance they asked several time the same questions (would you like to reserve breakfast?), by checking in the hostess forgot to give the key to us. When we called to get instructions for the parking this was a bit unclear and the hostess sounded ubsure. At dinner the waitress was lovely but forgot to take our dishes away before desert. She told her herself that she was new. For breakfast, please invest in a proper coffee / Cappuccino machine! I travel a lot for business and i have never seen a hotel this standing without a machine or service making and bringing Cappucino on demand! The breakfast was very good though, also with homemade and local food :). I wished they had told us ahead how to access parking and how much it costs. It is very cheap but unless you call you dont really know it is there and how to access it (they gave us 2 access codes to enter the parking area). Not a lot of space on the sink or bathrool mirror to lay your stuff. Its a detail but it makes a big differences in your stay. Overall we had a very good time at St Regis. Thanks for having us!
Large room and bathroom. Very nice when one travels with a small child or a pet (the hotel is pet friendly) or for longer stays. There is also a large closet to put your luggage away or hang clothing which is super rare. Although in the city center, they had double window and the street was very quiet. I am a light sleeper and slept very well. The restaurant is very good with a great menu for kids (my daughter ate the roasted salmon with fries). The dishes are local which is great if you are looking for a beautiful Burgendy experience. The terrace is nice although a bit loud when cars play music on. The location is also great. In the city center, you are in less than 10min from the old town and the Soane, so if you are hoping to see Châlons during your stay or to drive by car in the area, its an ideal location (and there is parking for 2Eur a night).

United KingdomNice old fashioned French hotel. Chalon sur Saone is an average sort of place but the hotel is charming. We have stayed before and the hotel restaurant is top class but it's closes Sunday and Monday so we had to go out to find something. Not easy on a Sunday night!
