Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIf I were to be ultra critical (perhaps a bit unfairly) the bacon at breakfast could have done with being a bit hotter and just a suggestion, perhaps a few fresh bread rolls would have been nice as an alternative to the slightly hard bread. Watch out for Mondays which are difficult for guests when there is no food whatsoever on offer in the hotel. However Marie kindly recommended Cafe Flamm in a nearby village called Hunting - which as it happened, turned out to be excellent for a light meal. Whilst I appreciate we stayed during an unprecedented heatwave throughout France (and a lot of Europe), without air conditioning, the room got very hot, despite the windows being kept fully open at night. Just a simple desk fan in our room would at least have helped to circulate the air.
Breakfasts were lovely in a lovely Breakfast Room. A hearty array of foods to choose from. The scrambled eggs in particular were delicious. The Pain au Chocolat were divine. Beautiful slices of fresh melon. We didn’t eat in the restaurant as unfortunately it was closed both nights we stayed, but we had a delicious substantial snack on the Tuesday when a limited menu is available. Our bedroom room was spotlessly clean and attractively furnished and the bed was very comfortable with sumptuous crisp white linen. There is a delightful terrace and garden with loads of large umbrellas to sit under. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Virginie in particular, bent over backwards to make sure we were well looked after - especially when we first checked in. The resident rabbit is fun too! This was our second visit in 9 months and we can highly recommend a stay here.

The location of the hotel was great with a large sunny terrace (and deck chairs) at the back. The food - both dinner and breakfast - was excellent with plenty of choice.

Cosy! Perfect little hotel in the French village, close to Germany and Luxembourg. The room we had was small-ish but we had enough space and everything was spotless. Gorgeous view of the countryside. We only had meals inside, but there is a nice dining area in the back garden as well. Great food and service. We really enjoyed our stay!

This is a cosy place in the countryside in the vicinity of the Malbrouck Castle close to the German border. It is run by a very dedicated charming staff with attention to detail. I had a very enjoyable stay there.

United KingdomThe staff were so helpful and friendly. There’s a delightful terrace where you can sit and enjoy a cold drink and /or an evening meal. Although we stayed on a Tuesday and sadly the main restaurant was closed… the light meal we had was very substantial and tasty. Excellent.

SlovakiaThe door closing mechanism needs to be adjusted. If you don't hold the door, it slams shut very hard.

United StatesI was surprised there was no air-conditioning in the rooms which is normally not an issue, but it was very muggy and very stuffy, and I found myself wishing there was one. Since there were no screens on the windows, I was on the eager to risk a mosquito filled evening to get some breeze happening. It was also a strange sign in the bathroom along with a timer compelling you to ensure your shower took less than five minutes. I’m not sure if there is a drought happening in the area – it wasn’t explained to me on check in but beyond that it felt a bit - well a bit unrelaxing.
Very nice property in a cute town below a château. particulary good staff at dinner. Very attentive, and kind.

The property was very nice but what made our stay excellent was the staff. After 3 weeks touring Europe and staying in many similarly priced hotels/pensions the staff here are superior. Both the barman and waitress looked after us extremely well and made us feel very welcome. Good staff make a nice place excellent!

Our stay could not have been more enjoyable. The level of hospitality shown by Marie and her staff was exceptional. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. Our room was spacious and thoughtfully arranged. The breakfast was delicious. Marie also helped us with dinner reservations both evenings. She makes you feel like you are an old friend. Our time at Relais Manderen will be a treasured memory - we hope to return.
