We went to the petrol station on site and tried to use one of the pumps by prepaying with a credit card. However the assistant came out to tell us to use another pump as the one I was using was for lorries. It was quite confusing as it didn't state it was for lorries only. The pump to use for cars is the one closest to the shop/till.

We like this hotel as it is perfectly located on our journey from Dieppe to southern Spain. It's mainly used by lorry drivers so it is busy . The rooms are basic but clean and totally adequate for a one night stay. There is a three course evening meal available for around €20 which includes wine or beer. The starter is a help yourself salad buffet which is excellent. There is then a choice of main courses including the dish of the day. We also like that you can walk into Barbezieux village. It takes about 25 mins but there are bars and restaurants there if you don't want to have your evening meal at the hotel. If you want breakfast it's around €5.90 and includes a hot drink, orange juice, croissant, baguette, butter and jam.

If you bear in mind what I have said above .. nothing!

I have overnighted at Relais de Barbezieux many, many times. It is important to remember that first and foremost it is a Truckers' Stop, a superb one. It represents very good value for money as long as you are not looking for a four-star hotel.

The room was very basic and a bit gloomy but spotlessly clean and cotton sheets. For an overnight stop we couldn't fault it.

Perfect stopover on our journey South as just off the N10. Spotlessly clean room, excellent shower and comfortable bed. Good evening meal with buffet starters and choice of several mains. Excellent breakfast. Token system for wine - a new one for us but wine perfectly acceptable. No road noise and air conditioning an absolute godsend as we were travelling in a heatwave. The restaurant was busy and pleasant..

The Relais de Barbezieux has a very large lorry park and caters for truck drivers. However, there is also an accommodation block for motorists, which features small, but usable, ensuite rooms. It is a convenient stopping point when travelling through France, which we shall probably use again

Absolutely typical truck stop hotel with dining and convenience store downstairs. Very suitable for a highway overnight but not much more. Nothing aesthetic or resort-like. Reasonable but not bargain priced, 50€ for 2 in late March. Free parking. Quiet room despite truck stop.

Very difficult to find with GPS. Took us in the middle of nowhere. Not well signed, as if they only wanted lorries to find them.

We booked online and paid in advance when we arrived. The premises was way below our expectations and we have stayed at other budget chains before. We had obviously paid in full before seeing our accommodation and decided we couldn't stay in the rooms offered. This is more of a lorry park and stop over. We didn't feel safe or comfortable with two young children and an older relative. It all looked superficially clean but felt old and tired, plus it seemed that some of the other guests (or people in and around the premises) were conducting their own business. I am afraid we handed back the keys and checked out within 30mins it was worth losing the money on two rooms - couldn't have slept there. The staff seemed surprised and questioned our decision but it wasn't for us and I wouldn't book again.

I would have liked a hairdryer in the room.

This is a Relais hotel aimed at truck drivers. However it's in an ideal location for me as I drive through France and Spain. The hotel rooms are quite basic but clean and functional. There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel which does a good evening meal with beer or wine. Breakfast is good value too but a little basic - coffee, orange juice and croissant and bread roll with butter and jam. It's a 25 minute walk to the village of Barbezieux which has some bars and restaurants.
