There was nothing to dislike

Peaceful and idyllic location. Lovely quiet room. Slept like a log. The bed covers were so warm. An individual styled property showing the owners personality through decor and taste. Unique furniture handmade by Eric that engulfed his individualism. I truly was drawn into his taste. Lovely terrace where we had a cooked evening meal. We arrived on our motorbikes where the lane is hard standing. I turned around the bikes before parking them up. Completely secure there as it was far from the main road. We felt very at ease leaving them overnight. I would highly recommend any motorcyclist to stay at this property as it felt really secure. Care should be taken manoeuvring the bikes around. But if you can’t do that then you’re a wuss. Elly and I passed our time away chatting to Felicity and Eric. We were made most welcome and comfortable by the two of them. We would definitely stay here again.

The Elves and Fairy's at the bottom of the garden tend to run around at night throwing stardust in your eyes to make sure you sleep soundly. Problem is we are night people.

To arrive at Le Moulin Bas, after leaving the last house of the last village 2 km away along a beautiful path is to enter the kingdom of Narnia, it is to leave behind "the sound and the fury", the civilisation and the conventional sense of space/time. If you dare to cross the wardrobe to enter this oasis of green leaves, you better don't look at your watch anymore, because here the hours become slow, the air becomes light as muslin and the pure water of the stream seeps into a wonderful pool of transparent water in which, after bathing, you will never be the same... Because the house has a life of its own and its molecules reverberate between the tradition of its precious antique furniture and objects and the modern or reinvented pieces that decorate spaces, and frame bathtubs under moonlit skylights and windows overlooking the sea and the waves of the forest sounds. Felicity (Happyness) and Eric are two beneficent forest elves who live on the banks of that river and welcome you into their home with open arms to offer you the best they have: their soul. Eric, the African-Parisian magician heals your wounded neurons by applying the ointment of his music, but he also feeds your body by preparing incredible breakfasts that are different every day, at the whim of his inspiration, mixing juices and textures in his delicious concoctions and "carving" fruit, literally, just as he carves the wood of his works or the pieces of his guitar (unique in the world). Felicity, an open and charming Irish fairy has been learning for 6 years to translate the language of the forest, the river and the dragonflies into images, without words, just looking you in the eye... and I think she has succeeded: we left the house a week ago, but the house has not left us. Thanks for everything, guys!

The weather the last couple of days was cool and sometimes rainy. I tried to complain to our hosts, but they claimed that they were unable to fix it ...

Well, we only stayed for a week. The first evening we had some local red wine with the owners, Felicity and Eric. And some local cheese, too. A couple of days later we had dinner together, and Felicity inaugurated our new copper frying pan from Paris with some ridiculously good beef (black Angus, Irish). We had so much fun together, and I'm pretty sure we shall stay in touch. The house - Moulin Bas - is an old watermill dating back to whenever, and F and E have managed to turn it into a most original abode, using wood from their own forest. As we arrived in early November the pool was closed, but that and the whole recreation area in the back yard must be pure paradise in the summertime. We are definitely going to come back some day. Remember your car and a couple of good flashlights. Oh, and did I mention that our bed was wonderful; we slept like babies and had pancakes almost every morning?
