They taxed my children a ‘taxe de sejour’ although the law says it only applies from 18 year old onwards. I had to prove them before getting reimbursed.

The window from the shower room on top of the bed is a privacy issue from anyone using the shower. Putting up a blind would remedy that. Toilet is separate from shower area. Didn’t like the size of the bed. The room was spacious but bed was a small double. Not very spacious for two people. The reception staff were friendly and helpful during checkin and check out but the lady who worked in the late evening did not even acknowledge us when we arrived back to the hotel. Wish there was a sofa to sit on but it would make the room more cramped. 10 minutes taxi ride to train station. Small hotel in a old building. It was busy coz of the summer season

Location was great. Right in from of galleries Lafayette. Short walk to beach/ market/ attraction/ shops Loved the lighthouse/ sea views / Nespresso machine We loved the free filtered cool water dispenser available on each floor which we could use to fill with refillable water bottles provided.

Nice rooms, appeared recently decorated, and hotel well situated close to the beach and all central Biarritz amenities and restaurants etc. We didn’t try the breakfast. Staff were really helpful.

Tired Mercure compared to other Mercure hotels. The separate toilet to the shower room remains a bizarre set up with no sink to wash your hands, and this one was tiny so your knees touched the door when you sat down!! Paper cups and rubbish tea selection in the morning not conducive to a good cup of tea to start the day.

Air conditioning wasn’t working. The hotel ran an emergency fire evacuation drill at 11:48 in the morning, which is fine. The alarm was barely audible in the room, if I were asleep, I would have slept through. When we got downstairs, the hotel staff were all at the assembly point and being accounted for by the drill coordinator. They seemed oblivious to the fact that they had guests! There was no checking of the our room or accounting for us when we leaving the building. A bit strange.

I thought the breakfast was a little too expensive for what you receive.

Comfy bed, lovely staff and the option to leave my bag at the hotel after check out whilst I kept exploring. 10/10 location.

Location was good. Close to the city center. Breakfast was very good. Well served and a wealth of options from eggs, to fruits to bread and pastries to yogurt/cheese/cold cuts, etc. Coffee was ok.

I stayed in a room with a view which was fantastic as it was high up. It was nice and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The shower had great water pressure. The breakfast was great with many options. The hotel was right in the middle of Biarritz with loads of dining and shopping options at your fingertips. The staff were fantastic as I have a vety limited French vocabulary, the staff were very fluent in English which helped me out.

No gym or outside space to lounge in but the convenience of being so central outweighed that.

Excellent location. We were in Biarritz for a wedding and the staff were wonderfully helpful ordering taxis and giving directions. They could not have done more. They kept our luggage until our later flight and were really charming. Hotel really close to beach and lovely restaurants. Very professional thank you.

Maybe have a few more items within the American breakfast, like different types of egg, baked beans or fried potatoes. Ideally have the option for cafetière coffee- machine coffee can be a little less enjoyable

Fantastic location, in the centre of the town. Very friendly and helpful staff, always pleasant and keen to help. Good breakfasts, including hot/ American style components, with something for everyone. Excellent comfort in terms of bedroom, loved that there was iron facilities in the room.

We first went to this hotel 7 years ago, it's becoming a little bit tatty in places. It could probably do with new carpets and repainting in places.

The location is excellent, you couldn't get a better location more central to Biarritz. The staff are friendly and the hotel is clean.
