Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

A beautiful historical House, furnished with antiques and art works. Very comfortable and equipped with modern conveniences. Exceptionally clean and in a lovely location in a small town close to the countryside by a canal and not far from the sea. A great find, with a very friendly and accommodating patron and I really look forward to returning soon! Lovely breakfast and all round excellent stay!

United KingdomWe were there in a heatwave (about 35C). No air-conditioning. We were too hot and, despite the fan, struggled to get cool enough. My overall score of 10/10 is based on a drop to 7/10 for no air-con but back up to 10 for all the additional "going the extra mile" benefits given by our host. There isn't a lot to do or see in Portiragnes itself (although, fortuitously, we were there while a weekend festival was on which was fabulous, albeit some rural traditions weren't at all PC). Our host reserved tickets for the events for us and we felt like locals.
Quiet: I'm a light sleeper and it was perfect. Breakfast: excellent, typically French, plenty of it - I saved the pain au chocolat for our lunch. Good coffee. Great to have it ready for us on the garden terrace. All very relaxed. The 3 members of the team we saw: all very friendly and patient with our rusty French. "Quirky" is the word I'd use for the whole place (which I see other reviewers chose). Several generations of family seem to have accumulated all sorts of stuff inside and around the extensive garden. The photos are accurate. Owner's flexibility: he was able to accommodate our early arrival time (11am) and early (7.15am) breakfast on our last day. He even volunteered to take us to the airport. Fridge is not in the room - it's a family-size fridge near the kitchen which we had access to (and freezer). We were also able to use the kitchen for preparing lunches and cutting fruit. Clothes airer is the washing line in the garden - ideal for drying beach towels and swimwear. A small Spar supermarket is around the corner but watch out for their opening hours: open 07.30-12.30 and 16.00-19.30 Mon-Sat and 08.30-12.30 Sun. Local restaurants (but not many of them): recommended by our owner. We went back 3 times to our favourite. Proximity of Beziers airport - 10-15 mins away by car. Proximity of the beaches at Portiragnes-Plage. 4km by bike. We had asked to hire bikes from our host in advance. Note that the bike hire on offer is a drive away (3.5km), near the beach but we were without car - our host took us there in his car and picked us up on our last evening when we handed the bikes back. 35 Euros each for 3 days (including helmets and a lock). Lots of lovely cycle routes which were along the Canal du Midi (very close) or on special cycle-ways.

United KingdomDue to the age of the property, there was no air conditioning in our room. In very hot summer weather, the room might be uncomfortably warm at night for people not used to the heat.
Interesting old property, full of charm. Beautifully decorated. The owners were very welcoming and the breakfast spread was copious. We were thankful to have been allocated a parking space in the driveway. The beach is a short drive away. Perfect location to catch an early flight from Béziers airport nearby.

IrelandThe parking was poorly signposted and badly lit. We arrived late at night and were unsure if we were in the correct place, even with GPS. There were cats wandering around on the ground floor on our arrival. No door (just a curtain) between the bedroom and the bathroom.
Pleasant hosts. Bed was very comfortable, Reasonable rates. Great breakfast - lovely home baked bread, jams and a wide variety of different foods.

United KingdomQuirky traditional house with a very helpful and welcoming set of hosts. Children felt very welcome and loved the cat entertainment. Drink upon arrival, places to visit and eat explained and taxi booked for us to airport in the morning. Breakfast was lovely as was the lady who prepared it (and the tasty jams).

United KingdomThe bed felt a bit rickety, but haven't said that I had a great sleep
The hosts are so friendly and helpful. I love the house, the decoration, and the beautiful idyllic garden, all colourful and laidback. Stress can't exist in this place. The town is small, but the restaurant we ate at was very good. It's a lovely bike ride from the beach, but hasn't got the touristy noisy feel like the towns at the beach front. The airport is really close and we biked over at the end of our bike tour. The airport is small, and ideal for bike tourers (luggage is unlikely to be lost, and possibly handled with a bit more care).
