Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandSo this is a very large property a bit off the beaten track but when you pull in and see the lake it's absolutely gorgeous must be a fabulous spot for a wedding. We were met by the lady owner who was very nice showed us around and told us about the age of the property and some of its history. Old fashion style room but really suited the property next morning we had breakfast in an absolutely stunning breakfast room with a log fire burning in the heart. Gorgeous breakfast and overall lovely experience.

United KingdomBathrooms could do with a little updating, but in a way, that's part of the charm. All clean and well kept though.
Amazing place full of history and character, loads to do in the grounds - lake swan pedalo a particular highlight. Breakfast was good quality and generous, host very welcoming and helpful. Beds comfortable, rooms large. A peaceful rural setting, coast and local town only a short drive. Great value.

United KingdomOut of season ( now 16th September)there is no restuarant so we had to drive several miles to find one and although Lidwine did direct us to any of the coastal areas we found a great place ''Saffoire'' about 5 miles away and the following night La Taverne Du Parvis in the main Square opposite the chapelin Coutance. There may be cooking facilities on site for those who want to make their own . Although we spoke french some literature in English on the history of the place would have been very interesting and dont drag your bags 60 yds from the carpark as you can move the plastic bollards to stop by the front door!( As we witnessed on leaving)
This 15th century house (possibly on older site) was amazing and literally jaw dropping! The whole atmosphere of the house and contents was from previous centuries and generations with many beautiful ornaments, furniture, flooring and items which take you back to a previous time. We stayed in a huge room reached on the 1st floor via spiral staircase with ensuite and comfortable beds, one a four poster. All I should say supported with the modern amenities to make the stay in the house wonderful. The extensive grounds with lake ,many different birds, geese, ducks wandering around and paddle boats and beautiful fauna throughout the place make for a very relaxing experience altogether. The Breakfast was generous and tasty served up on a longtable with fire roaring in the great fireplace and old grandfather clock with great brass pendulum adding to the atmoshere.

United KingdomLe Manoir is an absolute gem of place! Tucked away in the Normandy countryside, it seems not to have changed much since the 17th century - including the ornamental lake and huge stone fireplace in the breakfast room! Having said that, facilities are very good and modern enough to ensure very good levels of comfort. The hosts were lovely and the breakfast traditional but plentiful. Overall, an experience not to be missed by the connoisseur.

IrelandI’d driven 45 minutes off my route to stay here & arrived at 1400, the entire building was empty and not a single car I waited over 30 minutes and called them to get a voicemail in French obviously so I left a message, I waited another 30 minutes and as I was feeling unwell I left as it’s in the middle of nowhere and after a 60 minute drive found another hotel, I then called again to get the voicemail once again I’ve now been charged the full payment, apparently checkin is 1700/1900 which wasn’t on the booking form that was obvious to me before

Everything. Our hosts were most charming and helpful; we had a room in one of the towers up a spiral staircase. Very comfortable and clean it was a shame we could only spend one night. The evening meal and breakfast were exquisite. This would be a great location to explore the peninsula from Mont St Michel to Barfleur.

NetherlandsWe were not happy with the cleaness. The room was not being cleaned and the cups and plates of the breakfast were not tyat clean. The household was very nice and friendly but couldn't communicate in English. The swimming pool was close without notice on booking, children were disappointed. Internet connection was poor. There was no kettle and tea/coffee in the room. No tissue for the room. The towels, sheets and pelows were old, need to be changed.
The location is amazing for relaxing, the building and the garden are charming. Breakfast was OK.
