Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsOn hot days, the absence of air-conditioning may be challenging. Onsite parking would be an improvement (compared to current parking on small access road)
The location, directly at the Canal du Midi, is beautiful. Garden is nice, with natural looking pool. With only a couple of rooms, very charming. We stayed in the larger room which offered two balconies, one of them being a roof terrace with view on canal and one of the locks. With 40 m2 the room was very spacious and because of the many windows it is possible to cool down the room in the evening (in absence of air-conditioning). Charming and personal touch by owners and our dinner at the Maison was perfect, very high quality of food and wine options. Definitely a great recommendation! City is walking distance (10-15 minutes) and beach can be reached in 20 minutes by car.

United KingdomCandy and Charles were so kind and welcoming. The food was exceptionally good, and it was so delightful to eat outside in the garden. We appreciated the swimming pool as it was very hot. The house is fascinating and beautifully decorated. It was so interesting to hear about its history from Candy. She also offered us great suggestions for sightseeing, and booked us into an excellent restaurant for an evening meal. I can't recommend a stay with them highly enough. Beziers is a delightful place too. We hope to come back!

SwedenWe absolutely loved this unique hotel. The hosts are so friendly and service minded. Make sure you eat at this hotel (there is honestly hard to find anything better around). The breakfast spread was scrumptious and I still think back about having it in my bathrobe under the Magnolia tree in the garden. If you appreciate shabby chic, you’ll love this renovated 19th century mansion. Great attention to (unique) details and quality. The interior is a personal mix of antiques and newer pieces. A place to long back to!

CyprusTaking a bath/shower was a bit of a challenge, but we got the hang of it, and the room would be less charming without the bathtub in the room!
Candy and Charles were truly exceptional hosts. Warm, obliging and very eager to help with suggestions of where to go in the region, as well as recommending a. top restaurant in Beziers. Breakfast was made to order and all the ingredients from St. Maure goat's cheese to the quality of the charcuterie, to the buttery, fresh and flakey croissants - all delicious.

United KingdomWalking through the gates at La Maison is like stepping back into a Dreamtime- everything is beautiful and perfect.. I didn’t want to leave. If you love original features they’re here in spades but combined with all the modern features any hotel should provide. The garden is divine which backs onto the canal du Midi and there are beautiful walks you can easily access. The food is an absolute must and is a highlight. We had a meal on the night we arrived , carefully prepared by our host Charles who just happened to have been a Parisian Chef, trained with the best and his beautiful wife Candy served us attentively at every stage, welcoming us with drinks in the garden and really helpful suggestions for the rest of our trip. This was perfect and in a way I don’t want to share it because it’s the most lovely secret hideaway but that would be so unfair to Candy and Charles who have clearly thought of every need of their guest as and want you to have the best time and they deserve every success in their enterprise because it was perfect and that is before I talk about the breakfast and Sunday Brunch we were lucky enough to be around for. All I will say is make room and enjoy because you won’t be disappointed.. we will return some time, hopefully in the not too distant future ..try and keep us away!

United StatesIt rained all day one day.🙁
Excellent breakfast with fresh OJ, good coffee and bread, homemade fruit confits, etc. The dining room is quite grand, full of light with beautiful large windows. We did have their 4 course dinner with wine pairings one night and the quality of the food was high and the compositions flavorful. Charles and Candy are exceptional, urbane hosts and work hard to accommodate. Candy suggested what turned out to be a gorgeous walk along the river and canal that you can follow right into the historic center of Beziers and that starts just around the corner from their hotel. The pool is not large but is well-designed and beautifully placed on an earthen platform in the back of the garden. Even though it was chilly and gray, I just had to get in it and was glad I did! The mansion has a fun and interesting architectural style, a mix of Moorish and French elements. Fun to look around and talk about the house and gardens with Candy. BTW, if you like to watch TV in your room at night, there isn't one. Lots of things to like about this place. If I were to come back to Beziers, I would surely stay here again.

United KingdomThe whole experience was amazing - Candy and Charles are wonderful hosts and their home is truly beautiful. Our room was amazingly decorated - you could tell every detail had been perfectly considered, and it looked out over the beautiful garden. A real highlight was the food: breakfasts were delicious and we sampled the tasting menu one evening which we loved. We really couldn't recommend Maison Jullian more highly.

SwitzerlandNothing at all!
Great location, fantastic premises perfectly renovated, an oasis of calm, very friendly hosts, excellent breakfast and dinner cooked by Charles and his team. Candy gave us excellent advice on what to see and how to move around. One of the highlights is a walk along the Canal du Midi to the nine locks, then along another arm of the canal back to the river Orb, across the iconic bridge and with the elevator to the cathedral. Plenty of beautiful nature reachable on foot, despite being just ten minutes away from the oldest part of the town.

United KingdomI usually do not write reviews (good or bad) but it would be unfair not to share how wonderful Maison Julian is! From our arrival, Candy and Charlie were the most caring and attentive hosts. The chateau and garden/pool are breathtaking and in a very tranquil environment near the river. Our room happened to be ready early which was a lovely start after an early flight from London. The set menu lunch was delicious and we would come back just for the Sunday brunch (Charlie had four restaurants in Paris prior to opening Masion Julian so not surprising the food was delicious!). The meals are prepared with produce from local suppliers and their own garden. Candy and Charlie helped us with ideas for exploring Beziers and the surrounding area. They recommended a great dinner spot and even helped us with calling the restaurant to book a late-minute reservation. We loved learning about Candy and Charlie's journey to opening Masion Julian. We felt like we were staying with family and will certainly be back for another stay. Thank you from Megan and Luca!

SpainGorgeous property, we wanted to treat ourselves a little bit and find a relaxing stay but close to Beziers, and we didn't know what to expect but it exceeded our expectations. The property is gorgeous, located right in front of the Canal du Midi (I didn't know how much I'd enjoy visiting the 9 Locks!), and about a 15 min. walk to the center of Beziers. It has a large private garden and beautiful swimming pool, we spent an entire afternoon there enjoying the sun and the quiet. The rooms were beautifully decorated, I loved the antique design details. And finally, Candy and Charles were great hosts. Candy was super friendly and knowledgeable about the area, and Charles was a great chef. We enjoyed a lovely dinner in the garden the first night, and breakfast each day was a sumptuous feast. Also special mention to the lovely garden spaces such as the old pigeon house and the greenhouse, if you like interior design it feels like you're in a magazine spread. Congratulations on making such a beautiful space Candy and Charles!

One of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed in. Candy and chef Charles are amazing hosts and the brunch, dinner and breakfast we enjoyed during our, much too short, stay were generous and delicious. A fairy-tale castle of a place, on the banks of the canal du midi, its interiors decorated with elegance and charm, its’ gardens and pool sublime and all within easy access of the train station and the historic centre of Beziers. Can’t rate highly enough. Will definitely return and recommend.

Candy and Charles have created a truly beautiful space at Maison Jullian. They were incredibly welcoming and had great local knowledge, offering us some great tips for local beaches. Our room was stunning and so peaceful. We ate breakfast one morning, and stayed for brunch the next. Both were deliciou, and the Sunday brunch really is a special occasion. The location is perfect for a stroll along the canal into Beziers. We would absolutely return to Maison Jullian and had a very special and memorable trip.
