Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsOn a hot day, specifically the shower/bathroom was very hot and humid, even with the window open. Checkout was also quite early at 9:30 AM (which was not really a problem for us, but just something to be weary of).
We booked quite late; on the same day as wel arrived. This was no problem for the host. We arrived around 10:30 PM and she was still happy to receive us and explain how everything worked. She was also very friendly and spoke English well! The view on the city from the window/balcony was also very nice, and it really is at walking distance of the city: within 10 minutes you are inside the city (which is open day and night for free!). The bed was comfy, and the room had A/C, so it was very comfortable.

SwitzerlandThe double bed seem to have weak scaffolding parts made of chipoards, but it is ok for two persons for normal sleep.
We took the room with the balcony and the view at the castle. The building is a old builiding, so it has a limited space for the rooms and facilities. On the other hand thishouse gives you a nostalgic feeling. The rooms are small, but friendly equpied, there are cupboards in the room, where you can hand your clothes. There are narrow stairs that lead to the kitchen and to the rooms in the next etage. In the kitchen there are goods for making tea and coffee, there is also a fridge. There is one bathroom, which is a shared one. It is clean but limited in space due to the architecture of the building. The host is a friendly woman. Key handover is uncomplicated, possible also when the host is not at home.

United StatesThere was nothing at all with which to find fault.
Staying with Alina was like having a sleepover with a really good friend. She was genuinely happy to welcome me into her home and this was made obvious not just by her disposition, but by the evident care she put into the accommodations. First and foremost, the dwelling is absolutely spotless; Alina keeps the premises in white glove hotel standard cleanliness. The bathroom is sparkling, has complimentary hygiene products, and the dual shower is an absolute treat. The guest rooms are just the right size for a shared dwelling, have good ventilation and superior amenities. The lighting is abundant, as are the electrical outlets; clothing storage is ample, clean, and fresh smelling. The bedding is far better than anything I'd gotten from my previous Airbnb stays: it was clean, fragrant, and quite luxurious. My first night there I slept like a baby on the comfortable mattress. The same can be said for the bath linens; a thirsty bath sheet big enough to swathe myself was wholly unexpected, but truly appreciated. In warm weather one can get to this accommodation inside of a 30 minute walk from the Gare Carcassonne; inclement weather calls for a taxi~ I paid less than 10€. The walk to Carcassonne Cité is 10-15 minutes from the residence, as is other attractions you may want to visit such as the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Carcassonne. There are several small grocers nearby, and Alina is quite generous with the sharing of kitchen usage. In response to some of the lesser rated reviews I say there is nothing to complain about when the accommodation matches the disclosure. This lodging deserves the highest marks, and if I could have extended my stay I would have. I wouldn't hesitate to rebook and I highly recommend any traveler to Carcassonne to stay here.

United StatesI missed my train and had to walk in the dark which was not a good first impression. It was difficult with a rolly bag in the dark and I hurt my wrist. There was only one taxi at the station. More a statement about Carcassonne than the property. The property was very good.
The view was outstanding. The property manager was amazing! Patient with my total lack of French. (Not the case outside the property) It was very very clean and nice. My balcony was amazing!!
