Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomChristophe is a friendly and helpful host. His gîte is very comfortable and comes with a well equipped modern kitchen and indoor and outdoor games including table tennis and boules. There is a lovely private sitting out area with unobstructed views onto the large garden. There is no disturbance from the other gîte on site as Christophe has arranged sitting out and garden areas to ensure separation and privacy. The location is very quiet & rural but an easy 5 min drive into Azay Le Rideau. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property.

SingaporeChristophe was such a magnificent host. The apartment was clean, furnishings new and modern. There are two rooms on the ground floor (each sleeps 2) and stairs leading to attic floor which can easily sleep 2 adults and 2 kids. Not to mention, lots of books and board games for kids. There's also a spacious garden adjacent to the entrance of the apartment, perfect for kids to run wild when the weather is good. Great staging ground for visits around some of the Loire castles. There's a need to clean up the place before checking out, but I think it's typical for French guest houses, and it's also as a sign of respect for the host and the space. Recommended, especially for families with young kids.

This enchanting place offers a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. The facilities are impeccable, with tastefully furnished rooms that reflect the typical style of the region, without compromising on contemporary comforts. United KingdomCould have done with a longer holiday.
An excellent, modern, gite in a quiet rural location run by an excellent host who aims to ensure that you get a pleasant holiday. Location is good, local shops about 10 to 15 minutes away ranging from a local patisserie to decent size supermarkets. Similarly local attractions and activities are easy to get to.

United KingdomI should have booked a longer stay!
Really nice host, focused on us enjoying our stay, available when needed but otherwise left us to enjoy the Gite. The location is quiet and we enjoyed just sitting on the patio relaxing. Internally the finish is modern and has all of the facilities needed (actually far more). Many thanks Christophe.

CanadaI can't find fault in the place.
This is the most amazing self-catering accommodation we've ever stayed in! Christophe, our host, purpose built the gîte himself and hasn't left out a single detail. It has all the comforts of home, and then some! It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, it even has air conditioning in every room! The grounds are beautiful, and the gîte is located perfectly to visit all of the wonderful sights of the region. Christophe was so friendly and accommodating and is clearly very passionate about les gîtes du Moulin à Tan! À la prochaine Christophe, et merci encore!

United KingdomBeautiful location and outside space - Christophe has hand-crafted the gite beautifully. There were so many extra things - bikes, boules, board games, books, table tennis and table football - and a very well-equipped kitchen.

very comfortable apartment in a very quiet location. The owner Christophe was very friendly and helpful and did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. As he lived next door he was always available to help when needed. The apartment was very close to numerous chateaux, so touring around the area was very easy.

United KingdomLe Moulin a Tan is, in every way, a wonderful place to base your holiday in the Loire valley. The host, a truly lovely guy called Christophe has, through his own myriad skills (encompassing construction, engineering, art and horticulture), created a haven that you simply won't want to leave. The gite we rented in September 2022 is extremely well appointed with two bedrooms, state of the art kitchen, air conditioning and it's very spacious. All modern conveniences are provided, a true home from home. The setting is in gorgeous countryside providing a genuine escape from a busy world; it is peaceful, meaning that you can get a great night's sleep, and the grounds, in excess of 2ha, are a delight to explore, and include a pond and an old water mill with its mill-race. In the garden Christophe has thoughtfully provided some fine specimen plants and trees in a landscaped environment. The gite is well situated for the Loire, Indre and Cher valleys with a wide choice of chateaus to visit - Sache has its own one, but you can easlily go for something more majestic such as Villandry, d'Usse and Chambord. Altogether we had a fabulous stay and wish to return someday to see Christophe's continuing creation of a little haven of peace and tranquility. Do book in there if you are in the area - you will not be disappointed!

IsraelUnfortunately, the host behaved unapropriately to me. Despite the fact that we cleaned everything (which was not required by our booking conditions), the host was unsatisfied with this and demanded extra pay.
The flat was ok, but floors were too cold for me (end of april). The kitchen and location are great.
