Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsSleeping is somewhat difficult during summer time, because the "air condition" is just a loud, noisy ugly mobile system that, due to the noise, cannot be used during the night. Don't say that the room has air condition! The bathroom isn't very clean, lots of mold (moule) between the tiles under the shower.
The location is really excellent, beautiful big garden area, diner is very good, although service could be more customer oriented. The hotel has a lot of "atmosphere"

United KingdomWe stayed in a prestige room ( I’m lead to believe) breakfast wasn’t included in the price for £200approx - yet you could stay in a normal charm double room for £120 with breakfast- the room wasn’t worth the price and I’m sure unsure if the room we stayed in - St petersbourgh - was prestige ( as it isn’t even mentioned on their website) a little more friendly and inviting from all staff we saw wouldnt go a miss either if I’m honest as this generally makes at least 50 percent of your stay more enjoyable
The chateau is set within lovely mature grounds which are a pleasure to walk around especially with your dog and a hot chocolate. The bed was very comfortable and the building it’s self nice to look at. The cabins in the woods look great and if I was to stay here again I’d definitely try one of them out … maybe the tree house. We didn’t eat here as it was just a stop over whilst travelling. But the place seemed busy for the evening meal so it suggests that the food is good.

United KingdomThere was no door separation between giant bathroom and hotel room and big windows but I don't think one can see through from outside. At least toilet was enclosed separately. (it's not first time I've seen this set up in France though)
The first impressions can dazzle - drive through the mansion gates and grounds. We didn't stay in the chateau itself, but in one of its many more modern outbuildings. We were only stopping over for one night as part of road trip and fancied a change from usual B&B hotel chain and motels. It certainly didn't disappoint in that regard. The room itself was comfortable but was more simple than you'd expect from boutique hotels and bathroom wasn't filled with expensive toiletries, but that was good enough for us and it was excellent value for money. Breakfast was great and gourmand - you won't see choco pops here! We've enjoyed the restaurant fine dining experience, being served 5 course meal - be warned though that it does not have simpler dinner options. I was a bit concerned it'd be a disaster for our hungry but picky kids who'd end up behaving like Mr Bean in French fancy restaurants with staff who struggles to speak English (I don't expect anyone to speak it though) - but the children enjoyed mashed potatoes and nicely cooked chicken fillet - better than chips and nuggets!

NetherlandsThemed rooms on the top floor were a bit odd, but might appeal to some. The freestanding A/C in our bedroom was cumbersome and didn’t work that well.
Impressive house set in a beautiful park. Lots of shady parking under the enormous trees and a very friendly welcome from charming staff. Large glass conservatory dining area with a sunny terrace outside.

United KingdomThe room was a new build separate building and people could walk past and see into the room, even though they had stripes on the doors.
The food in the restaurant was nothing short of excellent. This is the main reason for such a high score.

ItalyBeen warned, after booking, of a wedding ceremony happening on the location. Drunk people would be very loud and try to enter our bedroom at 2am. The quality and cleanness of the Charm rooms it’s a bit average. Terrace not clean, hair dryer not really functional, not very well sound isolated. The bathroom and the room are basically the same thing.
Location, personnel and food were great the buffet at breakfast was also very good. The bed was also very comfortable.

UkraineLow soundproofing. So in the morning you can hear every step of every person outside. It was fine for us. But if you need full quiet, it might be challenging.

GermanyThe building and garden are old styled like a little castel from the years 1800. Inside it is partly modernized but they kept the style and charme of this era. They offered rooms including breakfast and dinner. At the dinner you feel like a famous people. The staff is taking care very professional. The food was delicious while you listening to instrumental pop song covers.

NetherlandsThe hotel was located quite far from Besancon, which could basically only be reached by car. Since there was very little to do in the immediate surroundings, you have to take travel into account. The hotel room had an awkward design with an open plan bathroom, no doors, which is not to anyone's liking, certainly not ours. Although it had all the amenities in place, there was an absolute lack of storage space. It was impossible to unpack your suitcase. The big attraction should be its restaurant, but we found it truly expensive for the quality of food and services provided (for exmple: a single espresso after dinner will set you back €5,50) whereas food was rather cold and not very refined. Unpleasant atmosphere, dining in a sort of greenhouse at night where all glass serve like mirrors.
The hotel chateau was a bit run down and our room was located in an adjacent less old building. The beds were great, and we enjoyed the amenities ranging from a hair dryer to the airconditioning and refrigerator. Room was clean, tidy and very quiet. Hotel seemed to be focussing on groups rather than on individual travelers, such as companies coming for team meetings or large family events. Overall the staff was friendly, but unfortunately nothing special.
